James Morgan Obituary

James Scott Morgan ROCK HILL - James Scott Morgan, 54, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, October 25, 2014 after a courageous fight with cancer. A Celebration of Life Service for Scott will be held at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, October 28, 2014, at St. John's United Methodist Church in Rock Hill with the Reverend Debra Quilling-Smith officiating. Visitation will follow in the St. John's Center and other times at the home. Scott was born to Sara Tate and M. Donald Morgan in Gaffney, SC on December 1, 1959. Scott?s childhood and youth were filled with playing sports, a passion that continued through his life as a silent fan of his alma mater Clemson University, from which he graduated in 1982 with a B.S. in Business Administration. Scott?s professional career spanned a 32-year history in various Human Resources roles with Springs Global and, most recently, the City of Gaffney. However, Scott?s greatest passion was living out his faith as a family man totally dedicated to his wife, three children, parents, brother and extended family of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. Scott was a faithful member of St. John?s United Methodist Church where serving the youth and children with his wit and sense of humor provided great joy for many. Scott?s love for Lake Hartwell was also his ministry in sharing his most favorite place with friends and family. He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Ann Taylor Morgan, 3 children, Sara Taylor Morgan, William Baxter Morgan, Elizabeth Madison Morgan; his parents, Sara Tate and M. Donald Morgan; his brother and sister-in-law Donald Todd and Pamela Morgan; numerous cousins, nephews and nieces. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. John?s United Methodist Church Building Fund P. O. Box 149, Rock Hill, SC 29730; and the James Scott Morgan Scholarship Fund at Westminster Catawba Christian School, 2650 India Hook Road, Rock Hill, SC 29732. The family would sincerely like to thank the nurses and staff of Novant Health Presbyterian Hospital - 7F Ward and Hospice & Community Care for their outstanding care and compassion. I met Scott many years ago when he was at the Springs Plant in Fort Lawn, SC. His plant was a business partner for my school. Later, my daughter, Courtney, became friends with the Morgan children at Westminster Catawba Christian School. I didn't make the connection until I met Baxter's parents. I immediately recognized Scott. He was one of the kindest, most Godly men I have ever had the pleasure to know. I will always remember his generosity, his smile, and his love for God and his family. He will truly be missed, but his gently spirit, his love for family and his faith will live on through his children. My thoughts prayers are with the entire family as you go through this difficult time.
