STEAPLES, James "J.C."

December 6, 1924 - January 26, 2014

Beloved father, grandfather, husband and friend to many passed away peacefully on Jan. 26, 2014 surrounded by family. He was formally of Ennis, TX where he was known as Big Jim and retired as a lineman. Born in Dimebox, TX to James Henry and Janie Steaples. He is preceded in death by his parents, brothers Norman and Archie Steaples and sister Ester Meredith. Survived by wife, Oneta Steaples of Austin, TX, son Jimmy Steaples and his wife Mary of Liberty Hill, daughters Carolyn Lafrance and her husband Mark of Arlington, TX, Beth Pool and her husband John of Lockhart, TX, Faye Kuykendall and her husband Mark of New Braunfels, TX, Martha Kohlmorgan and her husband John of Round Rock, TX, Fifteen grandchildren and lots of great and great-great grandchildren. He was deeply loved by all who knew him.

Visitation Thursday, January 30, 2014 from 6:00pm to 8:00pm at Austin Peel and Son Funeral Home.

Service Friday, January 31, 2014 at 11:00am at Hornsby Bend Assembly. Burial to follow at Jones Cemetery.

Rest in peace, Mr. Steaples, I never met you nor did I know you, other than you were Martha's father ... But our paths crossed years ago! You fixed a lawn mower for me and it hummed for many years ... until the wheels fell off! Your family was blessed that you were in their presence!
