Jean Tuttle

1928 - 2025

Jean Marie Allen Tuttle passed away peacefully on October 26, 2025, in Austin, Texas, at the age of 97. She was born in Enid, Oklahoma, on October 17, 1928, to Eugene Bernard Allen and Anna Marina Sherwood Allen, and grew up with her sister Shirley Ann Allen during the Great Depression and World War II.
After graduating from Enid High School in 1945, Jean attended Sacred Heart Nursing School in Wichita, Kansas, later working in Denver before returning home, where she met Air Force pilot Rob Newsom Tuttle. They married on New Year's Day in 1952, beginning a 64-year marriage filled with love and adventure. During Rob's 23-year U.S. Air Force career, they lived in Tucson, Arizona; Plattsburgh, New York; Fort Worth, Texas; and Little Rock, Arkansas, before settling in Tulsa, Oklahoma, where Rob worked for McDonnell Douglas until his retirement. Their son, George "Tyson" Tuttle, was born in 1967 and became the joy of their lives.
Jean was known for her warmth, humor, and love of people and animals. She volunteered as a docent at the Tulsa Zoo, raised a prairie dog named Freddie, and cared for a string of beloved pets. In 2009, Jean and Rob moved to Austin, where Shirley joined them in 2012. After Rob's passing in 2016, Jean continued to enjoy family gatherings, Sunday dinners, and her grandchildren. She was always "ready to go," whether for dinner, shopping, or a drive through the Hill Country.
Jean is survived by her son Tyson Tuttle and wife Nicole, grandchildren Caroline Craigmyle (Nick), Scout, and Charlotte, and great-grandson Bennett. A Celebration of Her Life will be held in The Green Room at Brookdale Westlake Hills on Sunday, November 16, 2025, at 4:00 p.m.
