Jeff Hazard Obituary

(08/23/2003) Jeff Hazard. age 50 , of Austin, passed away Friday, August 22, 2003. Jeff was born September 28, 1952 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He moved with his family to Austin in 1963. Jeff began his career with Texas Department of Transportation in February of 1974, where he later met his wife of 28 years. He worked for the geodetic surveying unit of the photogrammetry section. In 1975, Jeff transferred to the Computer Operations section where he accepted the position of ADP equipment operator. Jeff held positions of operations supervisor, network control supervisor and capacity planner, before joining Operating Systems and Support as a senior systems analyst. Jeff had seen and assisted in the growth of the department's IS infrastructure from a single central computer with one CRT in 1975 to today's multi- platform systems and vast telecommunications network. He retired February 28, 2003. Jeff was a UT sports enthusiast , an avid chess player, a devoted family man, ``Pops'' to his four year old granddaughter and biggest fan at his daughter's basketball games.. He is survived by his wife, Lynda Hazard; daughter, Kari Hazard; son, Shawn Hazard; daughter-in-law, Ginette Hazard; granddaughter, Shannon Hazard; parents, Dr. and Mrs. William Hazard; brother, Kevin Hazard of Irving, TX; sisters, Jill Kohler and husband, Jack of Plymouth, MN and Colleen Thompson and husband Mark of Dayton, Ohio; and numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. Sunday, August 24, 2003 at the funeral home. Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. Monday, August 25, 2003, at Harrell Funeral Home Chapel in Austin. Interment in Austin Memorial Park.
