Hello everyone I was a student of Jeff's long ago like 1984 and jeff was a fantastic instructor I managed sound arts recording rehearsal hall for jeff I learned so much from jeff although my career path took me into electronics I still had the experience and the confidence to follow my dreams thanks to Jeff Wells RIP My friend and I also would like to thank Miss Barbara Pennington for letting me do my Master Mix from her album Tempest. Houston lost a treasure when Jeff passed.

Jeff and Barbara were great people! I will never forget my fun times at Sound Arts Recording studio in Northwest Houston many years ago. Good people with a great heart! I so remember those special times hanging and jamming at the studio with both of them!

Jeff assisted me in recording a set of songs for my brother Mike (who just recently passed away). I remember Jeff being gracious and support, and the quality of the recordings was excellent. Rest in peace, Jeff.

I was Jeff's personal assistant in his studio for several years during the late 70's. He graciously took me under his wing and mentored me during a difficult time in my life. I will be forever grateful for his friendship and guidance and he will be sorely missed!
Thank you Jeff! Looking forward to seeing you again in that Great Recording Studio in the Sky!

Jeff,

You are greatly missed brother. This life is a better place knowing you and having shared a lot too many years ago. Be at peace, my brother.

Jeff was a cool guy who was fun in the studio. He had an easy going attitude and helped our band feel comfortable. We played music together at my house several times too and I always liked his Painkillers set list full of Beatle tunes.
I'll miss him.

As a Painkiller Jeff, Tommy and I were like brothers. We played our 1st gig at Billy Blues on December 21, 1998 and our last at Dan Electros's for SXDE on March 14, 2010. Between these two dates Tommy, Jeff and I played well over a hundred and fifty times at bars, benefits, party's and venues like Rockerfellers, Spring's Crawfish Festival, Fitzgeralds, Ima Hogg's house in River Oaks, The Balinese Room in Galveston, The Continental Club, The Firehouse Saloon and so on and so on. We also played many hole in walls too like Silky's, Side Car Pub, R&R Sports Bar and so on. Not only were we band members but we were also friends and we're all gonna miss him terribly.

April 19, 2011

My prayers are with you, and Jeff's family. I always enjoyed the time I spent with Jeff, he had the joy in life of following his musical talent and seeing him behind a mixing console was like watching a kid play. A life well lived. Your friend, Mike Duffy.

Linda - I knew Jeff for 35 years. As Hickory, and later as Ironhorse, my band was fortunate to take advantage of his great talents as an engineer, musician, and producer. We worked with him from his first garage studio all the way to the current Sound Arts location. He was a wonderful representative from Houston to the music community thru-out this country. His understanding of music, his high standards both studio-wise and customer-wise, his calm approach to the process of interpreting ideas into the medium, and his wry sense of humor all combined to make him an incredibly great man to be around. He will be sorely missed, but surely never forgotten. Our thoughts are with you, and the rest of his family. Respectfully, Peter and Marcia Breaz and Ironhorse

This is a real loss for the Houston music community. Jeff was an institution around here and its hard to accept that he's gone. I hope they have a Neve 8000 series board for him in heaven.

Linda: Although no words can really help to ease the loss you bear, just know that you are very close in every thought and prayer. What moves through us is a silence, a quiet sadness, a longing for one more day, one more word, one more touch, we may not understand why Jeff left this earth so soon, or why he left before we were ready to say good-bye, but little by little, we begin to remember not just that Jeff died, but that you lived. And that your life gave us memories too beautiful to forget. Please know that I love you my sweet dear friend and I am praying for you. Wenomia

Dear Linda

Charlie and I were truly devastated to hear of Jeff leaving this earth. We totally know what you are going through - the sorrow, uncertainty, and feeling of loss in most every aspect of your life. We want you to know that his love story for you was a blessing to see. Wherever he was - he always talked about you. Now that he suffers no more and is in Heaven- he is your very special guardian angel to be with you morning, noon and night. You only have to think of the treasured memories and there he will be. He will be in the music you hear, and the places you shared and in the depth of your heart. We truly are saddened by this loss. Jeff was a great musician, sound engineer and a good friend to many. He impacted many lives in big and small ways and remembering him will bring the best of memories to everyone. We will pray for you and for his soul and want you to know that just as his friendship meant so much to us - yours does too and we will always be there if you need us. Love Lisa & Charlie Cotrone
