Joanna Louise Janssen Moore Joanna Louise Janssen Moore, of Austin, Texas, after a brief illness, peacefully passed away in her sleep in the early hours of November 2, 2011 at the age of 82. Joanna was born on January 17, 1929 in Nordheim, Texas to Laura Mueller Janssen and Emil Dietrich Janssen. She was the apple of her father's eye and was blessed with intelligence, grace, and a remarkable beauty. She graduated from Nordheim High School in 1946 as Valedictorian and attended UT Austin majoring in Nutrition. She married Claude B. Moore (Buddy) on October 1, 1949 in St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Nordheim where they lived until 1964 when they moved to Austin with their 4 children. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, and cooking from scratch. She also enjoyed ushering with the Performing Arts Center and Austin Symphony. Jo volunteered with literacy programs, brought library books to shut-ins, and was an active member of the Saint Martin's Lutheran Church Altar Guild until 2003. She and Buddy moved to Rockport Texas and enjoyed their love of the beach for 5 years until his death in 2008. She was very fond of her current church, Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Austin. Joanna was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Caroll James Janssen, and her husband, Buddy. She is survived by her children; daughters Sandra Jane Moore Ransom, (Jeff); Sue Ann Moore (Ken Klein); Laura Jo Moore Krol (Steve) all of Austin, and her son C.B. Moore IV (Karen) of Arlington, Texas; and her 8 grandchildren Page Bachman McDaniel(Denny), Trey Bachman, Kari Ann Krol of Austin; Megan Lynn Moore and Bethany Nicole Moore of Arlington, Ian Christian Paul (Karen) of Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. Kelsey Eileen Krol of Houston; Kenton Thomas Krol and Kandice Louise Krol of College Station; and her two grandchildren Westin McDaniel and Wylie McDaniel of Austin. She will be sorely missed, but we will carry her in our hearts wherever life takes us. A service celebrating her life will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday November 5, 2011 at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, 4622 South Lamar. In lieu of flowers, donations to Christopher House Hospice or Holy Cross Lutheran Church, both in Austin would be appreciated by the family.
