Joe Brown Obituary

Joe M. Brown Joe M. Brown, age 89, of Austin, passed away on Thursday, April 19, 2012. He was born in Austin on October 31, 1922 to J.J. and Ethel (Johnson) Brown. Joe was a life-long resident of Austin, and attended Austin High School and the University of Texas. He played the bassoon in the UT Band and the Austin Symphony. He was a charter member of St. John's United Methodist Church, where he sang in the church choir, enjoyed Discussion Sunday School Class, and the Men's Breakfast. He enjoyed a long career with Capital Chevrolet, where he started as a wrecker driver and retired as the body shop manager. His many interests included traveling by RV, sailing, and boating. He competed in the Aqua Festival Boat Race for several years. He was a passionate square and round dancer, and was an avid square dance caller. He is preceded in death by his first wife, Ann Spillman Brown, second wife, Marjorie Byfield Brown, and his son, Joseph Wayne Brown. Joe is survived by his children, JoAnn Enoch and husband Dennis, Gregory Neal Brown and wife Janet, and Max D. Brown and wife Susan; and his grandchildren, Lori Krzan, Stacy Kaaki and husband Mounzer, Brian Brown, Casey Toole and husband Calvin, Sidney Smith, Kristen Bennett and husband Justin, Christopher Brown, and Melissa Finley and husband Ryan. He also has sixteen great-grandchildren and two great-great- grandchildren. Family and friends are invited to a visitation from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 22, 2012 at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Funeral Home, Pflugerville. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, April 23, 2012 at St. John's United Methodist Church, 2140 Allandale Road, Austin. Graveside services with military honors will follow at Cook-Walden/Memorial Hill Cemetery. To share memories of Joe with the family, please visit www.cookwaldencapitalparks.com.
