Joe D. Estrada 1935-2013 "Hook Em Horns" Our beloved Joe D. "Uncle Joe" Estrada, age 78, resident of Austin, Texas, was called by our Heavenly Father on Saturday, May 25, 2013. He is preceded in death by his parents Manuel and Estefana Estrada; brothers Frank Estrada, Vincent Estrada, Manuel Estrada Jr. Paul Estrada, and Gilbert Estrada; sisters Mary Vasquez and Nicholasa Estrada. He is survived by his devoted and loving wife of 51 years Modesta Estrada; daughter Vanessa Estrada (Rudy); son James Estrada; grandchildren Andrew, Steven, Iris, Alexandra, April, and Rudy III; great-grandchildren Joseph, Maya, Mariah, Ciara, Steven II, Tiffany, Julian, Hailey, Michael, Samantha, and Jackie; brother Martin D. Estrada. He served in the U.S. army, and then worked as a painter. He was a faithful servant, loving father, and grandfather. He was a die-hard Longhorn fan who bleeds orange and never missed a game. He could be found on his patio having his morning cup of coffee, cheering for the Longhorns with family and friends and dancing with his wife. Recitation of Holy Rosary 7:00 p.m., Wednesday at the Mission Funeral Home Serenity Chapel 6204 South First Street. (South). Mass of Christian Burial 11:00a.m., Thursday at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church 1206 East Ninth Street. Interment to follow later date at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery 1520 Harry Wurzbach Road San Antonio, Texas.
