John Gillam Preslar, Sr. John Gilliam Preslar, Sr., 73, of Etoile, went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, Friday, January 23, 2009. John was born October 22,1935 to John Marshall and Lola Mae Rankin Preslar in Travis County, Texas. He was kind and generous toward employees giving them respect approval and reward for their diligent service. He passed the business to his two eldest sons about 2003 but continued to enjoy working alongside of and offering advice to the "boys" throughout his retirement . He relished spending time with the grandchildren and along with "Grandma" they often took them in groups on overnight trips. He enjoyed sharing his passion for the outdoors, especially fishing, with everyone, particularly children. It was with great sadness to read John had passed on, but what a wonderful glory to know he is an Angel with his Lord. John and Hughleen were leaders for a lifetime within their Church, Fitzhugh Baptist. For many years, John, Hughleen and their "quiver" of children were always at Sunday School, Choir practice, Choir Specials, Vacation Bible School, Building projects, Church Services; always there when the Church doors opened for any of God's functions. One of his great loves was the true "Dinner on the Ground" after Church on Sunday. With Hughleen's great cooking, among all the other good Church cooks, we knew John wasn't fer behind! The Preslar Family was known for their beautiful voices singing at functions at various Churches, religious outings/events to include singing under the Camp Ben McCullough Tabernacle. As John and Hughleen, in her excitement of being first in line at Dripping Springs Elementary School, were putting Lora Kay, thier last child, of the "quiver" in school and rejoicing, I was last in line placing my first child in school with tears. Whether in Sports. Band, UIL, and/or all other extra school activities, John and Hughleen were always there to praise their children/grandchildren on to success. John will be missed and his memories will live on forever. God Bless John's families, Carolyn
