Kenneth Mashburn Obituary

Kenneth "Ray" Mashburn passed away peacefully on September 8, 2023 surrounded by his family. He was very much a people person and had a great sense of humor, which will missed by many.

Ray was born October 4, 1939 in Muskogee, Oklahoma, the son of Claude and Ruth Mashburn. He had three older brothers: Jimmy, Don and Wayne who preceded him in death.

He is survived by his true sweetheart and wife, Jennene, whom he adored. He is also survived by his daughter, Kathleen, and her husband, Mark, as well as his daughter, Jacqueline, and her husband, Randy. He had three devoted grandchildren: Chet, Caroline and Kenny. He was the rock of the family.

From humble beginnings, Ray graduated from the University of Tulsa and later received his Master's degree from Pace University in New York City. He held management positions for Southwestern Bell Telephone and AT&T. His career spanned many departments; retiring from an executive position in Strategic Planning. Moving a few times afforded the family adventures living in Oklahoma, New Jersey and St. Louis. Upon his retirement, Ray and Jennene moved to their beloved Austin. Ray then worked at Westlake Hills Presbyterian Church for a few years as head of the business operations. They were members of the church for 31 years.

He and his wife were long-time supporters of Ballet Austin.

It was Ray's hope that his donation to the Willed Body Program at UT Southwestern Medical Center might help others win their battle with cancer.

A celebration of his life will be held February 10, 2024 at 2 p.m. at Westlake Hills Presbyterian Church, Austin, Texas.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of your choice or to the Sarcoma Foundation of America. https://www.curesarcoma.org/kenneth-ray-mashburn/
