Lena Ham Obituary

(01/23/2003) Lena Kutzschbach Ham, age 96, died Monday, January 20, 2003, in Austin, Texas. She was born in Taylor, Texas, on March 4, 1906, the daughter of Frank Bernhard and Bettie Hoch Kutzschbach. She was a Cradle Roll member of the Presbyterian Church in Taylor, Texas, and has been a member of the University Presbyterian Church since moving to Austin in 1950. She graduated from Taylor High School in 1924 and for two years attended Texas Presbyterian College in Milford, Texas. She married Walton Thomas Ham on June 30, 1928, in Taylor, Texas. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband; and three brothers, Frank Kutzschbach of Austin, William E. Kutzschbach of Bryan, Texas, and Henry E. Kutzschbach of Bartlesville, Oklahoma. She is survived by her only child, daughter, Betty Lou, and son-in-law, John F. Grant of Austin; two grandsons, Joseph Harmon Grant and wife, Alice R. of Springfield, Virginia, and Thomas Hopkins Grant of Austin; three great-grandchildren, Sarah Elizabeth Grant, John Fishback Grant, and Mary Alice Grant of Springfield, Virginia; and three nephews, Buddy Kutzschbach, William E. Kutzschbach, and George Frank Kutzschbach. She was a devoted and exemplary daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her family will treasure their memories of her for she abundantly shared her faith with them and loved them constantly. Graveside services will be held at the Taylor City Cemetery in Taylor, Texas on Friday, January 24, 2003, at 2:00 p.m. The family requests that memorial contributions be made to your favorite charity in her honor.
