Leo Wade Obituary

Leo Wade Jr.
Leo Wade Jr. (Sandy), 81, passed Away on Thursday, February 4, 2021 following a lengthy illness. A private family viewing is being planned in Georgetown, Texas. Because of the COVID 19 virus a celebration of life will be planned at a later date to honor Leo's memory and his daughter, Stacey, who died only a few weeks ago.
Leo grew up in Oklahoma City. Because of his inquisitive mind and love of learning he excelled academically. Leo attended Rice University earning a BA degree in Physics, followed by a Master's Degree and PHD at the University of Kansas in the field of Radiation Biophysics. He later earned an additional Master's Degree in Studies of the Future at the University of Houston.
Leo's professional work centered around scientific and medical related research. He later moved into state and national legislation to regulate the safe use of radiation. Later in his career he moved into University Administration where he excelled in refining and developing programs to promote safety, research and learning.
Leo was always motivated by challenges. If presented with a program or situation that wasn't functioning properly, he got to work to fix it.
Leo wasn't always about academics and work. He loved music, art, theatre and travel. Dining on and cooking Gourmet food was a great passion of his.
Despite his many achievements, Leo was devoted to his family and friends. He regarded them as the greatest gifts of his life and cherished each one of them. He often said the most rewarding part of his work was to mentor young people and help guide them to become successful in their own careers.
Leo is preceded in death by his son, Russell Wade, his daughter, Stacey Screws, his parents Leo and Ann Wade, his In-Laws Luther and Donna Russell, many other brothers and sister-in laws, and their families.
Leo leaves behind his wife, Donna Lois Wade, his brother, Richard Wade, his honorary grandsons, Troy, Ethan Leo and Alex Muniz and their parents Dago Muniz and Linda Yang. Many other devoted family and friends will mourn his loss.
