Loretta JACKMAN Obituary

JACKMAN, Loretta
Alexander Hargett
Loretta Alexander Hargett Jackman went home to her heavenly father in the early afternoon of July 5, 2016. She had just celebrated her 92nd birthday. Loretta was born on June 20, 1924 in Whitewright, Texas. She was predeceased by parents, Oscar Gross Alexander and Amy D. Jones Alexander; husband, Daton Wayne Hargett (married 1943-1971); husband Ralph Watson Jackman (married 1973-2001); granddaughter, Summer Michelle Hargett; six brothers, Jones, Manuel, Ross, Jimmy, Lloyd, Doyle; and stepmother, Edith Alexander. Loretta is survived by half-sister, Rozenna Baumgartner; daughters, Sheila Hargett, Carolyn Hargett; son, Michael Hargett and wife Janet; granddaughter Misty Lee Lane and husband Tommy; grandson, Daniel Wayne Hargett; granddaughter, Alexandra Rose Michelle Hargett; great-grand children, Laurann Lane, William Lane; step-daughter, Gaynell Scarborough and husband, Tom and their children, Todd, Tiffany, Tim and Tess; step-daughter, Kim Frederick and husband, Brooks, and their children, Larin and Cameron; plus numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

Loretta had a long life of love for God and her family. She grew up on a farm in North Texas with her parents and six brothers during the depression. Loretta developed a deep love for music from her mother and spent most of her life playing the piano, accordion or organ for every church she joined. Music was her life's gift to God. She played her last service just a few weeks before her death.

A stay-at-home mom for most of her life, Loretta made beautiful homes for two husbands and their children. She cooked great meals, planted beautiful gardens, cared for her birds and loved family gatherings, especially at Christmas time. Later in her life, Loretta took several jobs outside the home, working as an administrative assistant for the federal government and then as a church secretary until her retirement.

Loretta's family and many friends will miss her beautiful light in their lives. But the memories of their time with her will continue to delight their souls. A Memorial service for Loretta will be held on July 23rd at 10:30 am at Wyldwood Baptist Church in Cedar Creek, Texas. A private burial of her ashes will take place later in the fall. Memorial donations may be made to Wyldwood Baptist Church, 398 Union Chapel Rd., Cedar Creek, Texas 78612 or to a charity of one's choice.

The family would like to express deepest appreciation to friends; doctors, nurses and staff at Home Instead Senior Care; Hill Country Home Health; Seton Medical Center Hays; Warm Springs Rehabilitation Hospital; Brookdale Senior Living Solutions; Regent Care Center; and Heart to Heart Hospice for the warm love, support and care extended to them and their Mother, during this difficult time.

My sincerest sympathies to the Jackman family. Especially to Mike Hargett. Mike came to work at VA/MQAS. I was so happy to find out that he was related to Loretta. I remember fondly when Loretta and I worked together at VA. She was so generous with her time training a rookie like me. Such a beautiful Lady with a big heart. God bless you and watch over us all. May all your glorious memories sustain the family through this time.
