Lorraine Florkowski Obituary
Lorraine A. Florkowski, born February 26, 1939, in Pittsburgh, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of love, dedication, and joy. Preceded in death by her beloved husband John, her sister Janice, and her parents Victoria and John, Lorraine's life was marked by her vibrant passions and meaningful connections with those around her. She is survived by her sons, Richard (wife Madeleine) and Roger (wife Andrea); and her grandchildren, Tyler, Mikayla, Analiese, and Ashlee and Renee.
A devoted wife of 49 years to John, Lorraine was a woman of many talents and interests. She often played bridge and cherished time spent with friends over a friendly game. In her quieter moments, she found joy in cross stitching, creating intricate pieces that she lovingly shared with her family and friends. Her love for beauty extended to the outdoors, where she nurtured a wide variety of plants, with her prized rose bushes always in full bloom under her tender care.
Lorraine's love for animals was most evident in her dedication to her dogs, which she proudly showcased in Kerry Blue Terrier dog shows. Her heart was as generous as her talents; she was a dedicated donor to Guiding Eyes for the Blind, supporting those in need.
Music was another significant part of Lorraine's life. As a passionate member of the Hill Country Singers group, she found immense joy in singing, sharing her voice with her community. Her travels around the world included Japan, Greece, France, Germany, and Alaska and fueled her adventurous spirit and enriched her life with experiences she cherished.
Lorraine's professional life was just as accomplished. She served as a financial controller for an airport consulting firm in New York, where her keen mind and dedication to her work made a lasting impact.
Lorraine will be missed by her family, friends, and all those whose lives she touched with her kindness, creativity, and love. She leaves behind a legacy of cherished memories, blooming gardens, and a beautiful voice that will be missed by her friends and singing community.
We would like to give special thanks to Skip Clark for being her loving companion.
