Lucy Denzau Obituary
(02/12/2003) Lucy Bertha Denzau, age 87, of Lockhart, Texas, claimed the eternal victory of Christ on February 7, 2003. Born to Arthur and Elizabeth Ruhmann, in Waco, Texas, on June 27, 1915, she received her master's in education from Texas State College for Women. While teaching, she met her Yankee soldier, Charles G. Denzau, and they married on July 4, 1944. After the war, they settled in New Jersey to start their family. While raising three children, her calling as a teacher led Lucy to tutor Hungarian immigrants in English, stay active in Presbyterian Christian education, and teach Parent Effectiveness Training classes. The couple retired to her beloved Texas in 1979, where they were active in the Kerrville Presbyterian Church. Once again Lucy involved herself teaching English to Latin immigrants. Widowed in 1992, Lucy became a resident of Golden Age Personal Care, Lockhart, in 1997, living out her life proclaiming God's faithfulness. Lucy was preceded in death by her parents; and brother, Albert Ruhmann. She is survived by her brother's daughter and family; numerous Gribble cousins; and four sisters and their families: Elizabeth Robinson of North Carolina, Hennie Ruhmann of Austin, Texas, Suzannah Jensen of Seabrook, Texas, and Len Svadlenak of Oregon.
