Margaret Andrews Obituary

ANDREWS, Margaret Mae Margaret Mae Andrews "Peggy" died November 24, 2018 at the age of 100 in hospice care at the Village of Gleannloch Farms in Spring, Texas. She was born June 15, 1918 in Philadelphia, PA, daughter of Emma B. and Elwood H. Bortz. Attending Upper Darby High School, she lettered in tennis. In 1940, she earned a B.S. in chemistry from Bucknell University, where she was a member of Alpha Chi Omega sorority. In 1943, she married Lt. Leland F. Andrews, who was stationed at the Philadelphia Navy Yard. After WWII, they and their three children lived in various locations across the United States from Berkeley, CA to Plainfield, NJ. Peggy particularly cherished her years as a guide at the Hagley Museum in Wilmington, Del. After Lee retired from the DuPont Co., they moved to Austin, TX where they were residents in Onion Creek and members of Central Presbyterian Church. For the past 10 years, Peggy was in residence at the Village of Gleannloch Farms in Spring, TX. She was preceded in death by her son, Robert H. Andrews, and her husband, Leland F. Andrews. She is survived by her son, Richard L. Andrews and his wife, Linda; her daughter, Susan Louise Andrews and her wife, Linda Campbell; three grandchildren - Scot, Mary Lee and Randy; and six great grandchildren. Her cremains will be interred alongside her parents, husband and son in Arlington Cemetery, Upper Darby, PA.
