Margaret BORCHARDT Obituary

BORCHARDT (Raesz), Margaret Ruth May 11, 1927 July 16, 2017 Margaret Ruth Borchardt was born in Williamson County, Texas, near Taylor, on May 11, 1927. She died July 16, 2017, at Silverado Bee Cave Memory Care Community. She graduated from Taylor High School in 1944. On March 20, 1949, she married Carl Borchardt. Margaret was a resident of Austin for over 70 years. She began her vocational career as an assistant to Texas Railroad Commissioner Olin Culberson, later working for the petroleum engineering firm, Pinkston, Miller, and Pinkston. She was most honored to conclude her vocational life working for the law firm of Graves, Dougherty, Hearon, Moody, and Garwood for over 27 years, retiring in 1992. Margaret is preceded in death by her parents, William and Hedwig Raesz, her husband, Carl; and four brothers, William, Harvey, Edmond, and Reuben Raesz; and a sister, Jeanette Carter. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, The Rev. Dr. Craig and Christine Borchardt; her daughter and son-in-law, Marian and Dana Hollien; three grandchildren, Emilie and Joshua Borchardt, and Kelsey Hollien; brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Francis Raesz; brother, Raymond Raesz; sister, Vera Anderson; and numerous nieces and nephews. A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held Saturday, July 22, 2017, at 1:00 pm, at Abiding Love Lutheran Church in Austin where Margaret was a charter member. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations in Margaret's name to Abiding Love Lutheran Church, 7210 Brush Country Rd, Austin, TX 78749, or a charity of your choice. Margaret was a long time member of the Oak Hill Extension Service of Travis County.
I cherish some of the plants I have from Margaret's extensive back patio garden. We
are sorry to have lost track of Margaret about 10 years ago.
