Marion Melton Obituary
Marion E. Melton, 71, of Round Rock, TX passed away on the afternoon of May 3, 2024 after a Courageous 2 year battle with peritoneal cancer.
Marion was born on March 14, 1953 to Egon and Christa Goltz in the town of Bad Oeynhausen, West Germany. In November of 1965, she and her mother immigrated to Texas. As a teen, she lived in Eastland, Schertz, Marion, Seguin and Corpus Christi. She was received into full Communion with Emanuel's Lutheran Church in Seguin, TX on June 2, 1968 and became a US citizen on September 9, 1993.
She met Stephen Melton in 1982 and they were married on November 24, 1984 in Austin, TX. They were nearing their 40th anniversary at the time of her passing. They resided in Austin until 1996 and lived in Round Rock at the time her passing. Marion retired from Seton Medical Center after 22 years of service in the business office and the Heart and Kidney Transplant group assisting patients as a Financial Counselor.
After her retirement, she helped love and raise her boys (son, grandsons and nephew)! They were the love of her life and the sparkle in her eye. She wrapped her arms around them and watched over them with all of her soul. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister. Family was the most important part of her life. Her life's journey touched many. There are numerous loving memories of her for her family and friends to cherish. She was kind, compassionate, and had a giving nature that will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. She leaves a legacy of strength and resilience with an unwavering drive and spirit. Some of her favorite things were: Led Zeppelin (Robert Plant), Christmas (she shopped all year to find the correct gift for each person), Italian food and her evening glass of red wine.
Marion was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband, Stephen: Her son Sean Goltz and his family: Rachel Cabello, Johnathan Cabello, and Brandon Goltz. Her Sister, Barbara George and her family: Lloyd and Wesley George and so many more family throughout Texas. She was loved and will be sorely missed by all who knew her.
The family would like to thank the doctors and staff at Texas Oncology for their expertise and grace in caring for Marion, in particular, Dr. Paul Loar and Laura Davis, PA-C. We also want to thank Hospice Austin Christopher House and their Home care team for making the final mile of her trip as pleasant as possible.
Interment will be at the Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery at a time to be scheduled.
