Mark Adams Obituary

Mark Adams 63, died on September 17, 2024, after a hard 10-year battle with cancer. He was born in Austin, TX. After many moves he graduated from South Lake Tahoe High School where he played many outdoor sports and loved snow-skiing. He moved to Louisiana and graduated from the University of New Orleans with a degree in Geology. His love of outdoors and education and geology caused him to work internationally in Mexico, Argentina, Brazil, and then also worked in Houston, Texas.

He finally settled in Austin and loved working with the ACI Consulting Firm. Mark not only worked with nature, but also enjoyed playing outdoors. His home backyard was always filled with friends and family. His family and friends called him "Mr. MacGyver" because he tried to fix everything with flexible duct tape.

Mark is preceded in death by his mother Gay Adams, and is survived by his wife Patricia, son Steven, sister Rebecca Adams and father Gerald Adams, and many friends.

There will be a Celebration of Life events with family, friends and ACI fellow workers.

Donations have been made to Hospice Austin and S.F. Austin Continuing Education Foundation.

Mark was an amazing mentor, colleague, and boss. I had the privilege of working alongside Mark for nearly the past 4 years. Mark taught me many things over the last few years, but one of the greatest things I've learned from him was what it is to truly be loyal. Not only was he a dedicated colleague here at aci, but he exhibited his loyalty in many ways: in his beliefs and logically framed ideologies, in the way he would talk about his family and wife Trish (which he would never let you forget "shes the boss"), to his opinion that Chevy trucks are "just so damn comfortable". I've admired that quality of his and feel honored to have learned from him. Here is an iconic photo of Mark in his office and natural element. He will be missed.
