Mark White Obituary

WHITE Dr., Mark Stephen Dr Mark Stephen White, beloved husband, brother, uncle, cousin, colleague and friend to many, passed away unexpectedly on October 21, 2018, while vacationing in Utah in his new RV. Mark was born on October 11, 1953, in Houston, Texas, to Robert A. and Audrey J. White. After La Porte High School, he graduated from Southwestern University, cum laude, in 1975. He then received his doctorate from the Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine, followed by an internship at Rocky Mountain Hospital in Denver, Colorado, where he met the love of his life, Christine Alberico, who worked there as a lab technician. Mark followed his career path with an anesthesiology residency at the University of Colorado Medical Center. He was board certified in both anesthesiology and pain medicine. Mark and Christine were married in 1982 and moved to Austin, where he began his anesthesiology practice at Round Rock Hospital. He practiced there for several years before changing his focus to pain management. He was currently an associate with Advanced Pain Care. Mark served on the Board of Directors of the Texas Pain Society. He was also an officer of the Texas Osteopathic Medical Association, and a member of the Physician Health and Rehabilitation Committee of the Travis County Medical Society, as well as a member of the Texas Medical Association. He was predeceased by his parents, his uncle Ross White, his aunt Joan Counts, and his cousin Brad Counts. He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Christine White, his brother, Dr. R. Lynn White (Barbara), his cousin, Lisa Counts Coppel (Pete), and their sons Joe and Sam Coppel, his nephews, Christopher White and Kenneth Burke, Jr. (Lauren), and his niece Robyn Tolva (John). He is also survived by six great nieces and nephews. Memorial services pending.

I have struggled to find the words to express my thoughts about Mark and his passing; nothing seems to be enough to describe this incredible man. He was an medical expert for my clients for years before becoming my personal physician. He is the only provider who tried for years to figure out what my diagnosis was and he was constantly bringing forward new treatments to try. He was brilliant and so caring and all with great humor. Such a loss and the outpouring of love and respect at his funeral made it very obvious that he was able to personally impact each of his patients, friends and family.

Dr. White was a wonderful and extremely smart man. My husband and I had known him and his sweet wife Chris for about 18 years. He would always take the time to listen to you, and make you feel important.
Our heart goes out to Chris. If you ever need anything, or even just want to talk, we are here for you.
If a family emergency didn't happen in our lives during that time, we would have been at the funeral service.
Chris you are in our hearts and prayers. After being with someone for a very long time it feels like a part of you is missing and makes your heart hurt terribly .
Dr. White will be missed by all.

Dr. White was an extraordinary person; blessed with patience, kindness, humor; a loving and generous soul with his time and his knowledge. No matter how bad my day was, he would always make me smile!
Dr. White was an exceptional pain doctor, bar none! Extremely knowledgeable in his own as well as other fields of medicine. I never had sedation during his treatments after we discovered it didn't mix well with my CRPS, and yes, I am stoic, BUT it is only because Dr. White had the hands of GOD! SO VERY GIFTED!
There are very few doctors I loved, but I loved him dearly and I always will.
Dr. White was not only my pain manager, I was blessed and lucky to call both him and Chris my friend. He was a blessing for me, his other patients, his staff, and our community.
Chris, I am heartbroken for your loss. I know how very much you loved each other.
I recall the time he showed me the amber jewelry he bought you for your birthday, he looked like a kid in a candy store; he was proud of his choice and his face was lit up like a Christmas tree.
Remember the good times Chris, your compassionate soul mate may be gone from you too soon, BUT, he will never, ever, be forgotten!
I love you.

My deepest sympathy to Mrs. Chris White and family. I'm shocked and saddened by his passing. He will be missed.

Like may have said here - I met Dr. White as a patient and he grew to be more like a wise and caring friend. With his ear-to-ear smile, quick wit, and relaxed style - he was very easy to talk to - and we did have some great conversations. He was so generous with his time and I'm sure he spent many hours afterward to follow up on what we discussed.

I can't believe he's gone, but I'm sure he's in the hands of The Heavenly Father now - probably having a great conversation on all the things he was wondering about.

My heart goes out to Chris during this time. Dr. White was more than just my doctor, he was a friend. His knowledge and understanding helped me in so many ways. I will keep him in my memories always.

To Chris...you know that Dr. White was the only person I would allow to touch my back. I was proud to say that I was his patient for over 17 years and even after I moved to New Braunfels, I would drive up to Austin just to see him. He understood and did what was best for me and my pain management. I will miss him so very much. Chris, you're in my prayers.

I just found out about my beloved Dr. White. I've seen him as a patient for about 15 years or more.
We became good friends and my company replaced his windows and all of my employees reported back to me that he was one of the nicest customers we've had. He and I shared a love of Corvettes and purchased new ones at about the same time.
When he was in his private practice, I would share other medical conditions I would be having and he would tell me what it might be, but always added that wasn't his field and I should go see whatever doctor specialized in it. Every single time he was correct.

I'm really going to really miss him and there is no replacement for him.

My wife and I had the great privilege of meeting with Dr White for a consultation in early July and without hesitation she quickly became one of his many pain management patients. We were absolutely blow away by his gentle, kind, informative and often humorous approach to Ali's critical medical condition. What an amazing man who was an incredible doctor with great stories. We will miss his quite and gentle spirit of calm and infectious smile. Our heartfelt prayers and sympathies go out to Chris and the family. Rest in Peach Doc, you ran the race well my friend and truly made a difference in the lives of many.
