Marta Johnson Obituary
Marta had an unquenchable spirit that spilled over whenever she laughed – which was often. Her impassioned delight in music, whether playing a jazz riff on her Selmer tenor Mark IV or singing a Shabbat melody in her beloved Congregation Agudas Achim, or scatting along with Ella Fitzgerald, all reflected Marta's full-throated yes to life.
For all of Marta's stumbles and challenges in her lifetime, she never became morose. She kept her head up and walked into every day with strength, humor, and endless love.

Marta was not my mother by birth, but when she found out my own had passed away. She immediately hugged me and said she was my mom now. For 4+ years, Marta was Mom and I'll be forever grateful for the light she lit in my life. RIP Mom. You'll be dearly missed.

This has made me so sad. Joan and Keith and families, I am so sorry.
I spent so much time at your house as a kid, Joan was (and is) like my sister, your mom was my mom, Steven was my best buddy, and Marta and Keith were our big sister and brother who drove us to Hebrew school.
Facebook allowed me to keep in touch all these years with Marta. She was always a sweet ray of sunshine to me. I wish I could have heard her sing during the holidays.
May her memory be a blessing.
