Mary Roach Obituary

Mary Dee Roach went peacefully to her lord on July 30, 2022, after a long battle with cancer. Mary Dee was born August 18, 1931, in White Plains, New York to parents John and Susan Doolan. Dee graduated from White Plains High School in 1949 and from the Berkley school in 1951. She is survived by her beloved husband of 68 years, Robert M. Roach and by their three boys Robert (Randy), John E (Jay), and Christopher H. and three grandsons, Robert Austin of Austin, Tx, William Edward of Austin, Tx, and Harrison Elliott of New Braunfels, Tx. Mary Dee was predeceased by her sister Susan Wecker of Cheshire, Conn.

Dee loved shopping while living in London from 1989-1992 and in traveling throughout Europe at that time. She returned to London several times after returning to the United States. Mary Dee loved cooking, entertaining and particularly all plants and flowers. Her encyclopedic knowledge of them caused her to be sought out after the first day by fellow tourists on the many trips taken.

The family would like to express their appreciation to the staff of Buckner Villas, the retirement home in Austin she has lived in the last three years, for their attention and caregiving as well as to the caregivers of Assisting Hands and to the wonderful personnel of Austin Hospice.

There will be a family gathering and a funeral mass at St. Alberts Catholic Church in Austin at a later date.
