Matthew LYONS Obituary
"Matt"
Matthew Jay Lyons, aged 56, beloved friend, brother, and uncle, died unexpectedly Thursday evening August 18th, 2016, following a brief illness at the Hollywood Presbyterian Medical Center, in Hollywood, CA. His friends and family were with him throughout his stay in the hospital.
Matt was born April 4th, 1960, in Austin, TX, the youngest son of Jay and Mildred Lyons. He graduated from Anderson High School in 1978, and the University of Texas in 1983 with a degree in theatre, and went on to pursue his license in massage therapy. He lived in Austin for many years before moving to Los Angeles to spend his final years in Hollywood, working both as an actor and a massage therapist.
Matt is survived by his beloved friends, his brothers Kirk and Mark, his sister Karol, and his eleven nieces and nephews.
Matt was talented; unstintingly generous and kind; a consummate cook, host, and entertainer; simply put, he was fabulous. Matt used his life to make positive changes in the world; he has left a hole in our hearts and in our lives that cannot be filled. He loved, and was loved by, his many friends; we miss him more than tongue can tell. He would like to urge you, as a final tribute, to vote for anyone other than Trump.
Matt will be interred at the Hollywood Forever Columbarium in Hollywood, CA. A memorial service will be held at the chapel there at a later date. For further details, please contact: Meg Wallace at [email protected]
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to AIDS Services of Austin (http://www.asaustin.org/), an organization that Matt gave countless volunteer hours to.

We will always remember Matthew and he will be missed. Matthew and I would talk about cats and cooking a lot. Matthew alway had a good cat story :) He was so sweet and thoughtful. I'll always be very grateful to have had Matt's friendship. I remember during my lonely freshman year of college when I came home for a vacation, and I called Matt. He came over and we just hung out for a couple of hours. It was very reassuring to see a friendly face again, and I've always remembered that afternoon. I'll always remember Matt with great fondness.
