Michael O'Connor Obituary
He was ordained to the priesthood for the Diocese of Hallam in England on July 13, 1985, and began to serve in the Diocese of Austin in 2004 and was incardinated into the Diocese on April 8, 2013.
Father Michael is survived by his brothers, John (Allison) and Joseph O'Connor, eight nieces and nephews: Danielle, Mackenzie, Ella, Louise, Ciara, Shay, Riley, Ronan, and his godmother, Auntie Kathleen Reagan. He was preceded in death by his parents, Maureen and Harry O'Connor.
A Visitation, followed by the Vigil for the Deceased and prayer of the Rosary will be Wednesday, February 5, 2025, at St. John Vianney Catholic Church, 3201 Sunrise Rd., Round Rock, with the Visitation from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and the Vigil with Rosary at 7:00 p.m. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, February 6, 2025, at 10:00 a.m., at St. John Vianney Catholic Church, Round Rock, with Most Rev. Joe S. Vasquez presiding.

I just read about Fr. O'Connor's passing and memories from parishioners who knew and loved him. Although I never knew Fr O'Connor, and as a Catholic myself, I'll pray for his soul ?

I loved the way that Father Michael made First Holy Communion a real children's Mass. It was so beautiful to see the kids walk in with Father, and then procession out together. Then he had them gather around & talked with them for his homily. A couple of the kids did the Readings, and later there was even a children's choir which was so fitting for this Mass. It was so beautiful & inspiring. It made me think of Jesus in the garden with the children. These details made my sons' First Holy Communion at STA so much more treasured. Rest in Peace, Father Michael. God Bless You and your loved ones.

May Father Michael rest in peace. I wish I had more years to enjoy his holy celebration of mass and wonderful homilies. Though I am very sad that he has died, I am thankful that he will no longer suffer in his fight to live. I feel blessed that our paths crossed. ? RIP Father

The day I learned of Fr. Michael O'Connor's Cancer, I started praying for his healing. My own husband battled Stage 4 Throat Cancer for 6 years at MD Anderson Cancer Center. In 2024 he was told he is "Cancer Free!" I thank God every day for his healing. But, I also asked the good Lord to heal Fr. Michael, too! That he, too would be Cancer Free soon. After all he was one of the Lord's beloved Priests! Priests have a very special place in my heart. And, the Church needs many more holy Priests! I was privileged to be a part of Mass when Fr. Michael celebrated on several occasions. His humble, truthful words that seemed to come from the heart always touched me deep within. I hung on to every word he said. The Lord has a Plan of Salvation for all of us! And, His Plan for Fr. Michael has been completed! I have no doubt that he is now a part of the angelic realm of holiness praising God for all eternity, singing "Hosana, Hosanna in the Highest!" No more suffering! No more pain! May he rest in everlasting peace!

Father Michael had a profound and lasting influence on my religious development. His homilies spoke directly to my heart at a very difficult time in my life and led to me taking RCIA and being Baptized by Father Michael. I thank God for Father Michael and will never forget him. May God hold him in the palm of His hand.
