Michael WOLFE Obituary
Michael James Wolfe, 58, died suddenly July 16, 2015 in Austin, Texas. "Wolfie" to his many friends was born December 31, 1956, in Queens, NY. Mike was a graduate of Washingtonville High School and SUNY at Oneonta with a B.A. in Economics. Mike's career began on Wall Street but he became disillusioned with high finance and discovered a talent for sales and dealing with people. Mike was a veteran of the beer industry and held a number of positions in several companies eventually relocating to Dallas and becoming District Manager for Van Munching Importers, Inc/Heineken USA supporting operations in 5 states. Later Mike settled in New Braunfels and became the proprietor of Calahan's Pub. Mike was a skilled artist, avid reader, builder of models and was an especially indulgent master to a host of dogs and cats throughout his life. Mike was a generous soul, and he loved the company of his many friends and family members.
Mike is preceded in death by his father George Thomas Wolfe, his brother Mark George Wolfe and his sister Michelle Ann Wolfe. He is survived by his mother Norma Margaret Wolfe of Vero Beach, Florida; brother Matthew Louis Wolfe (O. S. "Tripp" Newsom, III, partner) of Jacksonville, Florida; niece Catherine Allen Wolfe of Sarasota, Florida, as well as aunts, uncles, cousins and many treasured friends.
Two celebrations of Mike's life are being planned by his good friend Wayne Butler ([email protected]) . One celebration will be at Gerri Ann's Place (formerly the Jolly Tinker) 809 NY- 208 #2, Monroe, N.Y. 10950 on Sunday August 2, 2015 at 1 P.M. Another celebration will be at B. D. Riley's Irish Pub, 204 E. 6th Street, Austin, TX on Saturday August 8, 2015 at 1PM. A graveside service will be held at Evergreen Cemetery, Jacksonville Florida at a time yet to be determined with a reception afterward at his brother's home located at 1401 Avondale Avenue, Jacksonville, FL 32205. If so inclined, the family requests that in lieu of flowers donations may be made to your local Humane Society or the charity of your choice.
