Mildred MacAulay Obituary
Mildred Ruth MacAulay Mildred Ruth MacAulay peacefully passed away on March 9, 2007 in Austin, Texas. Born December 12, 1914 in Sydney, Nova Scotia, Canada, she lived a long and blessed life. A retired bookkeeper, she also lived in Santa Ana and Escondido, California. She was preceded in death by her "one and only," beloved husband, Aulay Philip MacAulay; sons, Donald Walter MacAulay, Allan Keith MacAulay; and grandson, Kenneth James Allinger. Mildred so loved her family and, in turn, was so loved by them. Left to cherish her memory: son, Philip John MacAulay (Margaret) of Vancouver, Canada; daughters Barbara Ruth Allinger (Richard) of Garden Grove, California and Nina MacAulay Daniel (Don) of Austin, Texas; grandchildren: Deidre and Bradley MacAulay of Toronto; Catherine Cass (Bryant) of Roanoke, VA.; Jennifer Bhide (Jeet) of Reston, VA.; Christopher MacAulay (Jannell) of Sanford, NC; Faye Crane (Randy) of Santa Ana, CA; Stuart Allinger of Garden Grove, CA; Heather, Alison and Craig MacAulay of Vancouver, Canada; Brooks Daniel, USAF Korea; Katy, Laura, and Mark Daniel of Austin, TX.; and her first great-grandson, Cole MacAulay Cass. Also surviving are daughters-in-law Gail MacAulay of Toronto, Canada and Patricia MacAulay of Torrance, California whom she loved dearly. All her family took great lessons from Mildred's example of how to live a good life: gratitude for every day and every loved one; love and humor surpassing material possessions; facing great sorrows with an optimistic will to move forward again; and the love of God. She much appreciated all the well deserved kindness she received throughout her life. Even in her 92nd year she could still recall her idyllic Cape Breton childhood, her loving parents, siblings and dear, life-long friends. Her world travels after retirement filled her with excitement and curiosity. While knowing too well her life's great tragedies, of losing her husband and two fine sons and grandson too soon, she would still remark how blessed she felt to have lived the life she had. Her sense of self was sure, but unaffected. Putting others before self was easy and natural. She loved her life, the people within it and the world around her. Her faith in God supported her throughout her fine, and truly well-lived life. Mildred's family would like to thank Hospice Austin and the dedicated staff at The Heritage at Gaines Ranch for their kindness, friendship and care, particularly these past two months. A memorial serviced will be held Friday, March 16, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. at Westlake Hills Presbyterian Church, Austin, Texas.
