Nettie Owens Obituary

Nettie Faye Owens A shining light went out in this world when Nettie Faye Owens joined her heavenly father on the wings of angels on March 13, 2006. She was with her beloved husband Morris Clayton Owens and her family. Faye met Morris while he was serving in the U. S. Air Force during World War II and she was living in Brady, Texas. They fell in love on their first date and that love endured for 63 years. With her brilliance and wisdom Faye could have pursued any career, but chose to devote her life to the most important job of all - being a wife and mother. Faye never sought attention for herself, but, because of her quiet strength and constant belief in goodness and right she inspired all who knew her to be their very best. Faye's greatest source of pride and joy were the accomplishments of her children and husbandbut her true greatness was in her unending selflessness, her faith in God, her love of learning, and her unconditional love for her family. Faye was an avid reader, a natural singer, a life-long Patriot, a seamstress, and a wonderful cook. Faye valued beauty and beautiful things, and preferred providing for her children and grandchildren to attaining material wealth. Faye leaves a legacy of eight children: Derace Dwaine Owens and his wife Linda Sue Owens of Jacksonville, Texas; Kerry Lynn Owens of Austin, Tex.; Linda Barnes and her Husband, Sidney Barnes of Austin, Texas; Mary Bashara and her husband, Jerry Bashara of Austin, Texas; Bobbie Oliver and her husband, Larry Oliver of Austin, Texas; Faye Lytle and her husband, Greg Lytle of San Antonio, Tex., Jo Ann Owens of Cherokee, N. C. and Lloyd Fernung and his wife, Karen of Rockport, Tex. She leaves one sister, Mary Noe of Austin, Tex.; eight grandchildren, Dwaine, Kristy, Tori, Chance, Amy, Brandon, Kasey and always by her side, Megan, as well as numerous great-grandchildren. Faye was preceded in death by her mother, Nettie Mathis, her father, Robert Mathis, and Her sister, Christine, and her brother, Bobby Mathis of Florida. When Faye left, the world lost a pure spirit and is poorer for it. Our treasure is gone, but she is at peace. Funeral services for Faye will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, March 16, 2006 in First United Methodist Church in Wortham, Texas. Rev. Beverly Hamilton will officiate with interment to follow in Wortham Cemetery. Please visit http://www.blairstubbs.com to sign the guest book or leave a memorial message.
