Patrick Brian Obituary

Patrick M. Brian
08/08/1946 - 09/19/2025
Pat Brian, age 79, of Austin, Texas, passed away on September 19, 2025.

Born on August 8, 1946, in Wichita Falls, Texas, Pat was the beloved son of Quilla and Evelyn Brian. He graduated from Abilene Cooper High School and went on to earn a degree from the University of Texas. An Army veteran, Pat served during the Vietnam War before continuing his service to others as a Peace Corps volunteer in Colombia, South America.

Pat built a successful career as a real estate developer and home builder. His professional accomplishments were matched only by his personal passions-most notably, his love of fishing. An avid fisherman, Pat had a particular fondness for deep sea fishing and traveled the world chasing marlins-from Hawaii to Ascension Island to Tenerife-always in search of the next great catch. He was known for crafting his own fishing rods, which he often traded for the promise of future fishing adventures.

Those who knew Pat will remember his infectious laugh and his gift for storytelling. Whether telling one of his own tales or listening to yours, he was always fully present and deeply engaged.

Pat was also a passionate sports enthusiast. He was a loyal supporter of the University of Texas at Austin baseball, basketball, and football teams, rarely missing a game. He extended that same spirit of encouragement to the younger generation, often attending children's games when invited, always cheering from the sidelines with enthusiasm and pride.

He also cherished the simple ritual of a good conversation. Each morning, he could be found sharing stories, laughter, and conversations over coffee with his group of close-knit "coffee buddies"-a daily tradition that grounded and enriched his days.

Pat lived life to the fullest... curious, generous, and always seeking adventure. He found enjoyment in simple pleasures: a perfect cast, a good conversation, or a well-cooked meal shared with friends. His independent spirit and kindness left a lasting impression on all who crossed his path.

Pat is survived by his siblings: Mike (Suzanne) Brian and Jo Betsy (Ed) Kinser; as well as nieces and nephews: Kay Jacob, Frank Graham, Eve Weber, Amber Brian, Aaron Brian, Laura Whipple, Steve Brian, Kimberly Stephenson, and Brian Kinser; and many great-nieces and great-nephews who will carry his memory forward.

He is also remembered with love by dear friends, the Bogardus family-Tom, Savanna, Jack, and Kate-and by his special friend, Sally Fitzpatrick, whose enduring friendship brought him joy, love and companionship.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Quilla and Evelyn Brian, and his sister, Joy Graham.

Pat's life will be celebrated by his family, extended family, and an abundance of close friends. Cremains will be scattered in his favorite fishing grounds off the coast of Kona.

In honor of his legacy and love of the outdoors, the family encourages you to share a story, take a fishing trip, or simply enjoy a moment of laughter in his memory.

Pat's celebration of life will be held Friday, October 10th at 11:30 AM at the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center. https://www.wildflower.org/
