Rebecca Ray Obituary

Rebecca S. Ray The world has lost a real angel. On February 9, 2006, Rebecca S. Ray was called to heaven at the age of 46 years after a long and valiant struggle with diabetes. She was always a loving mother, wife, sister and was a friend to many. She was born in Austin, Texas, on June 18, 1959, to Howard W. Schmidt and Charlyne O. Schmidt. She attended LBJ High School in Austin, and was a Daughter of the Republic of Texas and a decedent of the Pfluger family. She met the love of her life, Gregory L. Ray, in 1975, and they enjoyed many happy years together in Austin and later, Round Rock. The world is certainly a sadder place without her. She was preceded in death by her father, Howard W. Schmidt; nephew, Collin Moseley; and her very favorite father-in-law, J.W. (Jake) Ray. Becky is survived by her husband and friend of over 30 years, Gregory L. Ray; the son she treasured so, J. Patrick Ray, both of Round Rock; mother, Charlyne O. Schmidt; brother, Randy K. Schmidt; sister, Debbie D. Parsley; brother, Keith S. Schmidt; sister, Kerry S. McFarland; and sister, Lisa S. Moseley, all of Austin; her step-mother, Martha Schmidt of Austin; mother-in-law, Elizabeth S. Ray of Round Rock; her very best friend and amigo, Brigid Cockrum of Austin; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nephews, nieces, and friends. Becky's family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m., Monday, February 13, 2006, at the Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Funeral Home in Pflugerville. Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, February 14, 2006, at the Memorial Chapel of the funeral home, with burial following at 3:00 p.m., at Taylor City Cemetery in Taylor. Pallbearers are David L. Seago, Robert C. Maner, Dietrich E. Schmidt, Ian F. Blincoe, Blayne Parsley and Jeffrey B. James. Honorary pallbearers are J.W. (Jake) Ray, Howard W. Schmidt, Keith S. Schmidt, and Randy K. Schmidt. Thanks from the family go out to Dr. Steven Fehrenkamp, who treated Becky for the last 15 years. Memorial contributions may be made in Becky's name to the Children's Hospital of Austin, 601 E. 15th St., Austin, TX 78701. She will be missed by all who had the pleasure to know her, to love her, and be blessed by her beautiful spirit.
