Robert Bailey Obituary

Family-Placed Obituary

Robert Linn Bailey I "Bob Bailey" (Robert Linn Bailey I), 59, passed away Sunday, October 24, at 1:30 a.m. in Seton Medical Center due to complications from cancer. His family would like to thank all of the fine doctors and nurses who took care of him and loved him through this difficult time. Bob, a barber at the Sportsman s Barbershop in Jefferson Square, was beloved by his wife (Doris Bailey), children (Brandi and Travis Harp, and Rob and Emily Bailey) and all his co-workers, customers and other friends. Bob was a true outdoorsman who loved kayaking, hiking, mountain biking, hunting, fishing, and just about any outdoor activity. He trekked around the world with his friends and family, sometimes slowing down to wait for them. He had a joke for every occasion and a deep love for those near to him. Bob is truly cherished and missed by everyone who knew him. His memorial service will be held on Thursday, October 28th at 2:00 p.m. at the Church of Glad Tidings at 2700 Northland Dr, Austin, TX.

Even first meeting him, you could tell that there was nothing average about Robert Bailey or his relationship with his wife.

One afternoon this fall one of my associates ( Mary Elizabeth Morgan ) and I had the pleasure of meeting Bob and his lovely wife Doris. Watching the unique way this couple interacted with each other brought a smile to my face and at one time tears of laughter down my cheek. Bob and Doris both made my friend and I feel very comfortable in their home. They were very gracious to us. Bob had this ability to inspire hope in me. Seeing how bravely he faced the life that had been delt to him. I lost my younger sister this month after a long hard fought battle with breast cancer. She too made people feel so comfortable with her ability to smile and warm your heart with a joke or two. I bet the two of them are just cracking each other up up there. I am blessed to have met such a wonderful man. Our thoughts and prayers are with you Doris.

It is said that a man is truly great if he doesn't remind you of someone else. There is no one else like Bob. His great humor, his love for his family, his delight with nature, and his obvious courage set him apart. He will be missed and the Sportsman's Barber Shop will never be the same.

God bless you, Bailey Family.

When the world lost Bob Bailey it lost a true friend, a man of integrity, a man with a smiling heart, no matter the situation. An adventurous man, that loved to live and lived to love. Bob you will be missed by, so many. After knowing you, it's easy to see, why he wanted you with thee.

I am sad I didn't get to say goodbye, but glad I got to say hello.

Always a friend,

Bridget Wright Dear
