1934 - 2018

JONES, Robert Davis "Bob" Robert "Bob" Davis Jones has joined His Lord in heaven to be with the love of his life, his dearly beloved wife, Silver, on October 17, 2018. Our beloved Dad was born on December 7, 1934 in Houston, Texas to Ernest and Bessie Jones. He graduated from Kenedy High School in 1953 having the honor of serving as president of his class the last three years of school along with being President of the National Honor Society, a District winner in tennis, and Co-captain of the Lions football team. He obtained his undergraduate degree from the University of Texas in 1957 and his JD degree from UT Law School in 1960. While attending Law School he was elected Vice-President of his Freshman Law class and later served as Dean of his Law School fraternity, Delta Theta Phi. He then worked for Humble/ExxonMobil for 33 years. As Division Trades Coordinator he and his Special Trades group were recognized industry wide for reviewing and successfully negotiating drilling opportunities from other companies. Upon retiring in 1993 he and Silver returned to Austin where they had always intended to live after retirement. They enjoyed many foreign and domestic travels during their 54 years of marital bliss. Bob was known as "Ole Podna" to many of his friends and was loved by all who were fortunate enough to know him. He is survived by his three daughters, Jana Jones, Jill Wolfe and husband Glen, Missy Williams and husband John: five grandchildren, Stephanie Williams and husband Jimmie, Elizabeth Senior and husband Mark, Will Rickey and fiancé Leloni Martinez, Justin Wolfe and wife Cathy, and Audrey Williams. He is also survived by his precious great grandchildren whom he adored, Christopher, Sloane, Stella, and Jimmie Williams, Atticus Senior, Grayson Rickey, Justin Jay and Zachary Noah Wolfe. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Ernest William and Elizabeth "Bessie" Idora Jones; and by a grandson Quinten Wolfe. Visitation hours will be from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. Friday, October 19 at Weed-Corley-Fish North Chapel at 3125 N. Lamar Blvd. Austin, Texas 78705. Graveside services will be held Sunday, October 21, at 2:00 p.m. at Oak Hill Cemetery on Hwy 59 in Smithville, Texas. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to your favorite charity.
