LINDSTROM, Robert Victor
Robert (Bob) Lindstrom began his life on June 7, 1935, in the borough of Brooklyn in New York, New York. On Wednesday, September 28, 2016, at his home in the Central Texas countryside near Elgin, Texas, he finished his time in this place at the age of 81, where he entered into the fullness of life, which was given to him through Jesus Christ, whom he loved dearly. Bob was raised by his mother, Barbara, who, though handicapped, worked to help him live a good and faithful life. He attended public schools in the early days of his education and then studied at Brooklyn Tech High School. After graduation, he went to work in the Brooklyn Shipyards and other various companies before eventually earning a degree in Industrial Engineering from Drexel University. In addition to those many years of hard work and attending night school, he provided for his wife, Arlene and their five children. Upon receiving his degree in Industrial Engineering, he began working for Westinghouse in Jacksonville, Florida and Round Rock, Texas.
Bob married Arlene Busch on June 22, 1957, and they enjoyed 59-plus wonderful years together. Bob's love for Arlene was evident to all who met them. Together they served the Marriage Encounter community as team leaders and coordinators. They also loved worshipping and serving as members of the Catholic Church wherever they lived. Bob was a Eucharistic Minister, a Lector, and an active member of the St.Vincent de Paul Society.
Bob was greatly loved by the large family he had always dreamed of having. He did what he could to care for children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, who loved him in return. He was preceded in death by both his parents, and his great-grandson, Ezra Robert Polston.
Bob is survived by his wife, Arlene; his five children, Sr. Susan Marie Lindstrom OSB, Chris and husband John Swensen, Vickey Edwards, Mike Lindstrom and wife Jan, and Bill Lindstrom; his eight grandchildren, Ronnie H Polston III, Tiffany and husband Adam Ellis, Reba Edwards, Andrew Lindstrom, Rebecca Lindstrom, Kramer Lindstrom, Korben Lindstrom, Erik Lindstrom; his three great-grandchildren, Ayden Ellis, Austin Ellis, and Skyler Ellis.
The family will receive guests at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Elgin from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM Monday, October 3rd with a Holy Rosary Vigil at 7pm. A Celebration of Christian Burial Mass will be conducted at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Elgin on Tuesday, October 4th at 10:00 AM with Father George Joseph officiating. Interment will follow after the repast at 1:30 PM at Assumption Cemetery, Austin, Texas.
