b. October 13, 1923
d. July 16, 2015

Lieutenant Colonel Robert J. Marcott (Retired, USAF) passed away Thursday, 16 July after a courageous battle with cancer. A true hero, Robert proudly served as a part of the 379th Bomb Group and the 524th Bomb Squadron. Together with his fellow air corpsmen, he was among the first to cross the beaches of Normandy on D-Day.
He is survived by daughter Carole Wilson, granddaughters Julie (and husband Mike) Adams, Janeen (and husband John) Raulerson, and Jo (and husband Doug) Ekern, seven great-grandchildren, and one great, great grandson, all of St. Augustine, Florida, and one sister Esther Montag of San Diego, California, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
An active member of Central Christian Church, "Mr. Bob" will be greatly missed. He loved music and was a dedicated member of the church choir as well as an occasional participant in the Texas Choral Consort. A memorial service will be held at Central Christian Church, 1110 Guadalupe, Austin, on Tuesday, 21 July at 10:00 am, with Rev. Dr. Jacqueline Hammett officiating.

I discovered bridge upon retirement. It was pointed out to me that the two men across the way were Bob and "Mean" Bob. Having taught for many years, I introduced myself to Bob Marcott and let him know I was told he was "Mean" Bob. We were instant friends and laughter in our bridge table play began. One day at a Regional, Bob sang and I couldn't believe my ears. What a wonderful man and friend. I will miss him dearly.
Please remember the faith Bob had. It makes me think of him with fondness.
