Robert Yon Obituary

Robert Ruel Yon Robert "Bob" Ruel Yon was born in Palestine, Texas on July 27, 1923, and passed away at the age of 83 on April 11, 2007. He graduated from and was the quarterback of the Pasadena Texas High School Eagles in Pasadena, Texas. He enlisted in the United States Navy where he served five years during World War II. He then became employed by Gulf Oil Corporation and retired in 1980, after 34 years of service. Bob and his wife, Beverly, retired in New Braunfels, Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents Edgar and Lotta Crook Yon and by his wife Beverly Jo Yon. Beverly and Bob were the parents of four children: Terence Wray and his wife Rhonda, Peggy Jo Calahan, Rebecca Fay Yon and her husband Jim Alston, and Timothy Ruel Yon. Beverly and Bob also had four grandchildren: Blaine Gordon Calahan, Andrew Robert Yon, Garrett Ruel Yon and Dana Rene Munguia. Bob enjoyed bowling, golfing and his pecan trees in New Braunfels. In bowling, he had multiple 300 games; in golf he had six holes-in-one; and he cheerfully distributed his pecan crop to family and friends. Unfortunately Bob's lifetime of memories and family tradition were demolished one brick at a time by Alzheimer's Disease. Funeral services will be held at Doppenschmidt Funeral Home at 189 N. Seguin Avenue in New Braunfels, Texas at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday April 16 with visitation beginning at 10:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to your local Alzheimer's support/research organization.
