Ron LaTouf Obituary

La TOUF, Ron

Ron LaTouf, aged 52, died suddenly May 19th, 2014 at Baptist Medical Center in San Antonio. He had been ill for many years and after numerous surgeries and procedures he finally succumbed to complications due to a heart condition.

He leaves behind his wife, Patty, sons Jonathon (22), Tyler (14), Logan (12), daughter Sara (20) and his two dogs Linus and Lucy and many, many dear friends.

Ron is also survived by bothers Edward LaTouf and wife Caron, John LaTouf and his wife Mary and Terry LaTouf and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father Edward LaTouf Sr., his mother Ruth Pond LaTouf, brothers Ted LaTouf, and Jerry LaTouf.

Ron had a varied career. He was elected as the "The Funniest Man in Austin" contest and performed on the comedy circuit, opening for Jay Leno before he was on the Tonight Show. He also managed a comedy club in Austin. Ron next turned his attention to the business world and excelled there as well working as a sales manager, recruiter and motivational speaker in the cellular business. His love for food and people showed in the three restaurant/clubs he established in Marble Falls, Wimberley and Kerrville, Texas.

His love of music came in the form of his guitar playing. One day he picked up a guitar and started playing tunes off the radio and pretty soon was an accomplished player. He would do comedy routines using the guitar and have us in stitches.

Ron had a way about him that people naturally liked and gravitated to. His personality was strong and he would tell you just what he thought and give advice to the younger members of our extended family.

He was a man of many talents, but he considered them to be nothing compared to being a good father to his children, it meant more to him than anything else in the world. Even though sick and in pain most of the time he still continued to fight and try to leave a legacy to his children by opening a restaurant in Kerrville. No matter how tough it got him and Patty continued to work and try to make it a success.

A memorial for Ron will be held June 1st at 1:00pm. For directions contact Ed LaTouf at 512-288-3557.

Just found out Ron had pasted away. Ron and I were room mates and I considered him to be my best friend. We performed at many open mics at the various comedy clubs in Dallas in the late 80s. But I remember just hanging out with Ron at a fast food joint or Wal-Mart and laughing histericly about the most obsurd things. I remember his impressions and stand up routines that were very fluid, and he was very quick to handle what ever might come up during his stand up. Hanging out with Ron after we had a night of comedy was pure heaven. He alway managed to make everyone he meet to laugh, and smile. He always had the funniest pick up lines that he would use on any woman with great glee. He was one of the princes of comedy and he will be missed greatly. When I watch comedians in cars having coffee, I remember that living with Ron was like that everyday. I'm so sorry we lost touch for so many years, and now I won't get to say good by.

I write this with a ache in my heart too wide to breach. Ron I loved you, your humanity, your wit, your greatness. When we met I was 7 months pregnant with my first born and how you made me laugh. I don't think there is anyone in this world with the amount of beauty you had in your heart, your voice, your very being. I know God and his angels are definitely being entertained like never before. I know that where you are there is no more pain just freedom, love and beauty which you deserve and so much more. Rest in peace friend one day I will be laughing beside you.

Ron and I did a few open mic nights at the Improv in Dallas in the early 90's as a team act. I remember he had such a huge stage presence and a heart to match. I am sad that I lost touch with him and even sadder upon learning of his passing. Rest In Peace Ron.
