I'm so sorry to hear of Dr. Craig's passing. He helped guide my advanced education at UT - Austin introducing controls into my structures background. This allowed me to become involved in the control of flexible structure issues while at UT. Subsequently, this permitted me the opportunity to start my career supporting the Space Shuttle program as an Entry Flight Controls System analyst focussing on structural dynamic interaction. Dr. Craig (along with Dr. Bennighof) set me on a path that allowed me to contribute to both the Space Shuttle and International Space Station Programs in the Controls-Structure Interaction (CSI) area. His patience and educational excellence were crucial in my development as, at the time, a future engineer. Looking back thirty-seven plus years later, I was quite fortunate to be blessed with his guidance & inspiration. He will be missed!

In the Spring of my Junior year in Aero Engineering (March 1971), I became ill with pneumonia and spent a week in the UT health center hospital. It was the year I was taking a Dynamics of Motion class with Dr. Craig. In the middle of my stay, Dr. Craig somehow found out that that's where I was and came by to visit me there. I thought he had brought assignments or homework … but no, he had come by just to cheer me up and wish me a speedy recovery. 50+ years later, I still remember that afternoon with one of the most thoughtful professors I encountered during my time at UT.

I'm sorry I missed the service, I should have been there to help celebrate the life of Dr. Craig. Dr. Craig was one of the most influential people in my life. He was an outstanding educator, mentor, and friend.

Even though we're a year late we wanted to send our heartfelt condolences to Jane and her family. Several years ago we had the pleasure of
meeting Roy at Jane's and our highschool class reunion where we grew up in Ellensburg, WA.
