Ruth Gilmore Obituary

GILMORE, Ruth C. Age 99, of Austin, Texas passed away on January 13, 2021. She was born to Chester Cecil Matthews and Minnie Ora Fite in Spur, Texas and moved to Austin in 1954 where she retired from ACC as an executive secretary. Ruth is survived by her daughters Margery Sue Lowrey (Joplin, MO), Nancy Ruth Taylor (Georgetown, TX), and Elizabeth (Liz) Ann Laurence (Austin, TX). She has 9 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and 14 great-great-grandchildren. Garland Virden (100), her faithful and supportive beau of several years, is also considered part of her family. Ruth will have a private family interment of ashes at Cook Walden in Pflugerville. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to the Retina Foundation of the Southwest.

I got to know Ruth when I worked at the Conservatory. I absolutely adored her. She had such a positive personality, and always went out of her way to make everyone feel welcome. Rejoicing that she is seeing clearly on the streets of gold. My thoughts are prayers are with the family.
