Sandra Dollar Obituary

DOLLAR, Sandra Patricia Markey Sandra Patricia Markey Dollar (Pat) went to her eternal home on December 17, 2020. Born May 23, 1938 in Savannah, Georgia, Pat spent her childhood in Charleston, South Carolina and Atlanta, Georgia. Pat met the love of her life, Thomas Roby Dollar, Jr. (Roby), on a blind date. They married in Atlanta on March 31, 1957 and spent a wonderful lifetime together in Nebraska and Texas, where they moved for Roby's work. Pat earned her First Class rank in Girl Scouts and passed on her love of Girl Scouts and service to others to her daughters. Pat was an excellent student who loved history and politics. She attended the University of Nebraska and graduated from Texas A&I University in Kingsville, commuting to college while raising two young daughters. She taught high school Social Studies in Corpus Christi for a time and later, after moving to Austin, Texas, she became a realtor, a career she enjoyed for more than 20 years first with J.B. Goodwin and then with Amelia Bullock. She was known as an ethical and caring realtor who always put her clients' interests first. Pat was a friendly person who loved to engage strangers in conversation anywhere she was. She was active in Republican women's groups throughout her life. Pat and Roby were also avid bridge players and enjoyed their Friday night bridge group friends. She was always active exercising to Jack LaLanne and Richard Simmons, boxing in the gym, walking in her neighborhood or on the beach. In her later years, Pat was determined not to let Parkinson's Disease keep her from enjoying life to the fullest. Pat enjoyed sewing, knitting and crocheting. In addition to beautiful clothes and quilts that she made for her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, she made blankets and prayer shawls for hospitals and her church. Most of all, Pat loved her savior, Jesus Christ, and was active in worship every Sunday, in Sunday School and in Bible study with friends from Grace Covenant Church. She and Roby always put God at the center of their marriage and Pat's example of a godly wife was an inspiration to her daughters. Pat is survived by her husband of 63 years, Roby Dollar, brother, Jack Markey (Dolores), daughters Cynthia Dollar and Debra Dollar Kahanek (Kyle), granddaughters Kendra Martin (Michael), Kayla Blanchard (Sarah) and Elisabeth LeDoux, great-grandchildren, Cornelius, Abigail and Samuel Martin, nephews David and Jason Markey, niece Chris Markey Henderson and their spouses and children. A celebration of Pat's life will be held when we can be together. In lieu of flowers, a donation in Pat's memory to Grace Covenant Church, 9431 Jollyville Road, Austin, Texas 78759, would be welcomed.

My dad and I rented a house in Dove Springs for over 30 years. Pat was the best landlord anyone could ask for. Sending continued love to Roby and the family.
