Sarah Otter Obituary

Sarah Wilkinson Otter Sarah "Margaret" Wilkinson Otter passed away quietly at home on March 17, 2006. She was born in Richmond, Virginia on May 24, 1921. Margaret was a graduate of the University of Virginia School of Nursing and served as a First Lieutenant in the US Army from 1943 - 1945. She married Henry Frederick Otter (Colonel (Ret) USAF) in 1942, and they were married for 49 years before he preceded her in death. She is survived by three daughters, Betty Otter-Nickerson (husband Glen Nickerson) of Austin, Barbara Newton (husband Thomas Newton) of Tampa, Florida, and Margaret Jones of Austin. She has one grandson, Pvt. Geoffrey Newton, stationed in Germany; and two granddaughters, Laura Newton of Tampa and Katelyn Nickerson of Austin. Her extended loving family includes brothers, E. Douglas Wilkinson of Tallahassee, Florida, and family and Robert A. Wilkinson of Springfield, Virginia, and his family. Margaret was a member of Triumphant Love Lutheran Church, the Order of the Eastern Star and Daughters of the Nile (Elim Temple No. 76) of Tampa, Florida, and a local Canasta Club. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in her memory to the Lance Armstrong Foundation (by mail at P.O. Box 6003, Albert Lea, MN 56007-6603 or online at http://www.livestrong.org) or Hospice Austin (by mail at 4107 Spicewood Springs Rd, Ste 100, Austin, TX 78759 or online at www.hospiceaustin.org) Margaret will be buried at Memorial Gardens in St. Petersburg, Florida, on March 22, 2006. A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held at Triumphant Love Lutheran Church in Austin on March 26, 2006, at 4:00 p.m.
