Stephen Randle Obituary
Stephen Graham Randle peacefully embarked on his heavenly journey surrounded by family on September 11, 2023, at the age of 84. Born in 1938 in Dallas, Texas, to Judge C.C. and Adelaide Randle, Steve was a fifth generation Texan whose ancestors came to Texas when it was still part of Mexico. His great-great-grandfather, Colonel G.W. Crawford, was a Texas Ranger and heavily involved with Sam Houston in the early days of the Republic of Texas.
Steve grew up in Waxahachie, Texas, alongside his sister, Carol. One of Steve's fondest memories was helping his dad campaign to be re-elected as the county judge. He would often accompany his father throughout the election process, which instilled in him a love for politics. Steve and Carol adored their parents and frequently cited them as their role models.
After graduating from St. Mark's School of Texas high school in Dallas, Steve received both his undergraduate and law degrees from the University of Texas at Austin. Upon earning his J.D., he began his career as a securities attorney before venturing into private practice. In the late 1970s, he transitioned into the field of finance where his innate business acumen shined, earning his CPA license. He was Chief Financial Officer for a prominent healthcare provider in Colorado Springs during the 1980s. Steve continued working in the financial field well into the 1990s.
Known for his three-piece suits, love of blues and dry humor, he would often proclaim "this is the good life." Steve had a brilliant mind and a deep knowledge of world events and history. He loved long discussions about global affairs and his memory was unparalleled. He was drawn to the Rocky Mountains, having lived in Colorado, Utah and Wyoming, but also spent some time in Alaska. Upon retirement, he eventually returned to his Texas roots settling into a lakehouse, where he tended his rose garden and enjoyed the good life.
Steve was preceded in death by his parents C.C. and Adelaide, his sister, Carol Anderson, and niece, Laura Houren. He is survived by his children Tim Randle (Kelly) of Round Rock, Claire Martinez (Sergio), and Greg Randle (Aimee) and their mother, Flo Ann Randle, of Austin, grandsons Chase Randle, Kyle Randle, Atticus Boyd, Jonathan Randle, and Graham Randle of Austin, and nephew Jay Houren (Lisie) and their daughters, Elise Houren and Catherine Houren Hanzelka of Houston, and Carolyn Houren of Austin.
The family wishes to thank Don & Zoe Mesecher for all their kindness to Steve throughout the years. A celebration of Steve's life will be announced at a later date. If you would like to make a donation in his memory, please consider the Make-A-Wish foundation in lieu of flowers.
Dad, you are with us always - whether near or far.
