Stephen Ruud Obituary

Stephen Dailey Ruud, 73, passed away peacefully on February 20,2024. He was born November 6,1950 in Austin Texas to Millard and Barbara Ruud.

His first 12 years of education were in Austin Texas graduating from Stephen F Austin High School in 1969. His college education was at Vanderbilt and Stanford. He graduated in the top 10% of his class at Stanford University in 1974. He was awarded a Fulbright Scholarship then taught English in Sweden for 6 years. Finally he pursed his passion for Law at Georgetown Law school, graduating in 1984 again in the top 10% of his class.

After Law School Stephen embarked on a legal career, practicing civil litigation in Miami ,Florida and Boulder, Colorado. His commitment to justice touched the lives of many in the communities he served.

Stephen retired to Austin in the early 2000s and enjoyed life with his friend Alejandro de las Rosas..

Stephen is preceded in Death by his father, Millard and mother, Barbara. He is survived by his brothers Christopher and Michael, along with his friend Alejandro de las Rosas. All were at Stephen's side in his final days.

A service will be scheduled and posted on the atxcremations.com under obituaries.
