Todd, Szymankiewicz Obituary

Todd Alexander Szymankiewicz Casimir Cavahn Szymankiewicz Aoibhin Halina Szymankiewicz Todd Alexander 35, Casimir Cavahn 5, and Aoibhin Halina 3, Szymankiewicz, all were called by our Heavenly, father on Wednesday November 25, 2009 in Lufkin, Texas. Todd Alexander Szymankiewicz was born on Dec. 16 ,1973, to Thaddeus Joseph and Renee Szymankiewicz in Chicago, Illinois, a city he always loved. he grew up in Chicago and in Wisconsin attending Burlington High School in Burlington, Wisconsin. He had an unmatched charisma and charm and could talk to anyone and made friends wherever he went. He traveled extensively throughout the United States and Canada while on Grateful Dead Tour. His passions were History, Slavic Studies, Geneology, and his own extensive family. He was also a lover of animals, both large and small. He met Deva Haney in 1998 in Nacogdoches, Texas. They fell in love and were together for the rest of his life. Their 11 years together included the births of their two beautiful children and their marriage in 2005. Todd was the epitome of "tall, dark, and handsome." He was a proudly Polish man, an attentive and caring husband, and a most loving and devoted father. He was an irreplacable figure in so many people's lives and he will be forever missed. Casimir Cavahn Szymankiewicz was born on March 22, 2004 in Austin, Texas. Even from a very early age he always had a wonderful sense of humor. He was very caring and had a very big heart. He always looked out for his sister and wanted to make sure that everyone was happy. He had just begun to attend kindergarten at Eden Park Academy and was doing well and making many friends. He was a very gifted reader, even at his young age. He loved trains and was passionate about elephants. He was the most loving and charming son anyone could hope for. Aobihin Halina Szymankiewicz was born on December 14, 2005 in Austin, Texas. From the beginning she was very independent and strong-willed, and always knew what she wanted to do. She was always allowed to dress herself and never failed to delight us all with her unique fashion sense and colorful outfits, which often included scarves, gloves, bags, and especially hats. She adored her older brother and they were so close as to be best friends. She loved playing elephants with Casimir and also playing with her ponies. Both of these children were the most beautiful, intelligent, and loving creatures we have ever known. In their few short years with us they have given us a lifetime's worth of vibrant happy memories that will warm our hearts forever. All who have known them will be forever grateful. Todd is survived by his wife Deva; Mother Renee Szymankiewicz, Brother Scott and his wife Donna, brother Austin Szymankiewicz, Sister Tamra and her husband Mike Pare, Brother Thaddeus Szymankiewicz, Brother Robert Szymankiewicz, Sister Rebecca and her husband Jose Perez, Brother Richard Szymankiewicz and his wife Cathy, Nephew Robert Szymankiewicz and his wife Veronica, Nephew Ian, Nephew Carey Szymankiewicz, Neice Ashley Welsh, Nephew Erik Pare, Neice Kylee Szymankiewicz and Nephew Logan Szymankiewicz, Nephew Colin Szymankiewicz, Neice Trinity Szymankiewicz, Neice Alexandria Szymankiewicz. He is preceded in death by his father Thaddeus Szymankiewicz. Casimir and Aoibhin are survived by mother Deva, grandmothers Holly Klein and Renee Szymankiewicz, great-grandmothers Blossom Marshall, Edith Creamer and Betty Morrow, and many loving uncles, aunts and cousins. A visitation will be held from 6-8 PM on Sunday November 29, at Austin-Peel and Son Funeral Home, 607 East Anderson Lane Austin. Funeral Services will be held on Monday November 30, 2009 at the Funeral Home. Interments will be in St. Adalbert Catholic Cemetery in Niles, IL. Due to the severity of this tragedy many in the community, friends and family are longing to help. We have created a fund with Austin Federal Credit Union located at 1900 Woodward St in Austin. Donations can be made there to the Szymankiewicz Memorial Fund.

Not sure what to say?

December 3, 2009

For a long-winded person, words just seem to escape me after this tragedy and nothing seems like the right thing to say so I'll share what I'm feeling.

Thoughts change frequently from...

A deep sadness that the light of such a wonderful human being has been extinguished too soon along with his beautiful son and daughter and brother-in-law to...

A sense of the unimaginable pain and loneliness his wife, the Klein family and the Szymankiewicz families must be feeling to...

Smiling with memories of interactions with him at work (St. Ed's), his voice, the way he would always wave hello, the calm, peacefulness that surrounded him, his blue stocking cap, the smell of gasoline mixed with cigarettes and fresh cut grass, the way he would light up when talking about his family heritage and his wife and precious babies to...

Concern for his family left with such a huge void and the sadness and loneliness that void leaves behind to...

Hope and encouragement for the family's strength so they may continue to be happy here on earth as Todd would be until that glorious day when everyone is reunited again in a kinder and gentler place.

God's peace, comfort, strength, love and blessings to all of the family and friends that Todd touched in his brief 35 years.

Dear Lord, wrap YOUR precious arms around Deva and Holly as well as the rest of this dear family. While we cannot even begin to imagine the depth of their sorrow and pain Dear Lord, may they fix their eyes upon YOU, our Dear Saviour, Friend, Comforter, and Counselor. ... See MoreLord, just hold each of them as they begin a difficult journey, may they find peace and rest in YOUR bosom. Wipe away their tears and fill their heart with the peace that only you can give, the peace that surpasses all understanding. Lord, even in our darkest hour YOUR WORD tell us that YOU will never leave us nor forsake us. May this sweet family look forward to the day when they will be reunited in that Heavenly home YOU have prepared for us. A place where their will be no more, pain, sorrow, or tears. In Jesus Name, AMEN.

I didn't get the pleasure of meeting Todd, Aoibhin, and Casimir, but I have known Deva since she was a child. Her grandmother, Betty Morrow, has lived next door to my Mom since I was in diapers.

Deva has gone through the ringer and then some in her young life. First, she lost her father and now her husband and children. My heart goes out to her and she will remain in my prayers for a long, long time.
