Warren Hayes, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on November 12, 2023, at Hospice Austin's Christopher House. Warren was born on February 23, 1967, in Synder, Texas to parents Larry and Susan Hayes. A devoted husband to his loving wife, Kristina Hayes. He leaves behind quite a legacy in the hearts of his wife, Kristina Hayes, and their daughters, Kristinn Massay and Jessica Parrish. His memory will be forever treasured by his sons-in-law, Kyle Massay and Korey Parrish, as well as his adored grandchildren, Marshall Massay (2), Kinslee Parrish (1), Maverick Massay (almost 1). Warren's enduring spirit lives on through his mother Susan Cooper, his sisters, Debbie Dupree, and Michelle Dorado, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Warren was diagnosed with Glioblastoma Multiforme on December 4th, 2021. From the day he received his diagnosis, the prognosis was grim, but he was incredibly determined to fight this disease. By Gods grace, Warrens outlook on life, and the amazing team of doctors that worked together to help Warren fight this aggressive brain cancer, we were given much more time than we ever expected. Regardless of how long and daunting the fight was at times, he never wavered. Warren remained steadfast in his commitment to his journey with unfettered determination, and sheer will that often took great risk to try new medical options. Warren was courageous in providing tremendous assistance to his medical team to collect and provide much needed information for future patients with a GBM diagnosis. That's the kind of big heart he had, always up for a challenge, especially when it would benefit others. We are beyond grateful for Dr. George Bobustuc, Dr. Amin Kassam, and their entire team at NCH Hospital Neurosciences Department for their commitment to provide Warren with the best possible treatment options. These dear doctors truly became part of our family.
Warren was an entrepreneur through and through, incredibly smart, humble, and hard working. He saw obstacles as challenges to overcome. He never wavered in his love and commitment to his family and the things he believed in most. In 2018, Warren went to work for Z Modular as the Senior Vice President. Warren loved working for the Zekelman Family and in modular development. He had a real understanding of manufacturing and felt that he was part of an incredible team. He was so grateful for their love and support through his fight with cancer.
Warren had an incredibly creative mind and loved to read. Having lived in east Austin for over 20 years, he recognized the need for change. He created the SH130 Municipal Management District and Texas Essential Housing Public Facility Corporation in East Austin which became law 2018. His ultimate vision was to provide opportunities and change in the underserved communities in East Austin and other areas of Texas. He was incredibly proud of what the district represented and what he knew it would achieve in these communities.
In his free time, Warren loved golfing, watching football, traveling, spending time with family, and loving on his grandchildren. He was a visionary and a pillar in our family. He was who we went to for advice on life, he always knew what to say and do next. Warren's legacy of love, courage, and strength will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and colleagues.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, November 18th, 2023, at the familys 7 acre property known to family and friends as Seven Oaks (4300 West SH 29, Georgetown TX 78628).
