William Lynch Obituary

William "Bill" Lynch was born on April 4, 1936, in LaMoure, North Dakota and died on February 8, 2023, in Hays County, Texas.

Known then as Bill Rose, he graduated from Galveston's Ball High School in 1954. He attended Georgetown University before completing his Bachelor of Science degree and then his Jurisprudence degree at the University of Texas, Austin.

Dad worked at the shipyards in Galveston; at the U.S. Capitol for Sen. Milton Young (ND); as an assistant D.A. for Bexar County; and as a hearing examiner for the Texas Railroad Commission. In Austin, he owned two trucking companies, practiced transportation law and found time to coach little league baseball. He was an ardent proponent of hard work and was a prolific home renovator, along with countless other endeavors. He (and my mom) proudly supported Sen. Barry Goldwater for President in 1964, and in 1972 he ran, unsuccessfully, as a Republican for the Texas House, Place 4.

Bill was preceded in death by his mother Agnes; his father, judge and state senator, William D. Lynch, Sr.; stepfather Joe C. Rose; siblings Thomas, David (Cynthia), John (Barbara), Marianne and Jo Ann; and wife of 42 years, Norma Joseph Lynch.

He is survived by his two sons: William III, his wife Cassie, and their daughter, Bridget all in San Antonio; his son John and his wife Cecilia in Lakeway, and their son, Philip Howells, daughter, Camille Wolfe and Camille's husband Preston in Austin.

On behalf of Bill, his family offers our sincere thanks to all the fine folks from Wimberley to Blanco who, through their generous help and time, made it possible for dad to live out his life, as he chose, these last 20 plus years.

Friends and family are invited to lunch on June 1st, 11am-2pm, at the Blanco River Pizza Co. on the square in Blanco, Texas. A private burial will be at a later date. In lieu of flowers or donations, dad would want everyone to save their money for a rainy day. ERIN GO BRAGH
