Willie NELSON Obituary
Willie Edith Myers Nelson, 95, of Austin, TX passed away on Friday, April 25, 2014. She was born on September 29, 1918 in Woodville, OK in a farming community called Dark Corner. Edith, as she was lovingly called by friends and family, was the oldest child of Will and Kate Myers. The family eventually moved to Texas seeking care and schooling for her younger sister Georgia Mable Myers who, blinded at an early age, attended and taught at the Texas Blind, Deaf, and Orphan School. Mrs. Edith Nelson was married to the late Hudie Nelson. She and her husband lived in California for several years while she honed her skills as a seamstress working for such noted clothing manufacturers as Canady Creations, Clyde's, and Noddis Sportswear before returning to Texas to care for her mother and sister. Wise in years and knowledge of life's struggles, she spent many hours sharing her thoughts and experiences with caregivers and friends. After suffering a stroke, she was hospitalized several times, but passed away quietly in her home.
The funeral service is scheduled for 1:00 pm, Friday, May 9, 2014 at David Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, 2211 East MLK Blvd, Austin, Texas. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Condolences may be left at www.fuller-sheffiedfuneral.com (512) 476-9164.
