Anthony "Tony" Ronald Gallo
Anthony "Tony" Ronald Gallo, a lifelong member of the Stevens County Community, passed away on January 19, 2022 in Colville, Washington. Tony was born on August 22, 1942 in Seattle, WA to Anthony Rudolph and Mabel (Harty) Gallo.
Early in Tony's life, his family would relocate to Northport, Washington, where Tony would spend the remainder of his childhood, graduating from Northport Highschool with the class of 1960. The Gallo family owned and operated Tonys Market in Northport where Tony learned as a young boy to cut meat and work in the grocery store. Tony had already developed a strong work ethic, and after moving to the Tri-Cities area, he began managing the meat departments for a chain of grocery stores at the age of 20. From here, his career as a butcher took off, and throughout his life, he was involved in every step of the process from cutting, retail and wholesale sales, buying, consulting, and teaching. Tony quickly became knowledgeable in every facet of his profession.
Tony had a true passion for the meat and grocery business. He opened his first meat shop in Libby Montana with his brother Sonny, and later opened Gallo Meats in Colville on Main Street. He had a knack for retail, quickly outgrowing the location on Main, he purchased the building on Washington Street with his brother Jerry. In 2011 Tony and his daughter Kim reopened Gallo Meats for the 4th time where he finished his career.
In the early 80's, Tony would meet the love of his life, Linda Gleave. The two were instantly in love, and they would wed in 1985. The two would work together in Tony's Market, providing groceries and other staples in Northport beginning in 1992, continuing to operate it until selling the location in the end of 2021. When Tony wasn't working in Northport or at Gallo Meats, he loved to spend time with his loving wife, his children, and his grandchildren.
Whether he was working or at home, Tony led his life with patience, humility, and logic. He was an excellent problem solver, able to create ingenious solutions to whatever problems he may encounter. These problem-solving skills made him a natural mentor, calmly and patiently working with people for hours passing along his immense knowledge. Tony knew that there was always a way to better himself, and whenever possible, he would travel to various butcher shops throughout the Pacific Northwest, picking up on skills and tips through careful observation.
Tony was preceded in death by his parents, Anthony and Mabel Gallo, his son, Christopher Gallo, and his siblings, Sonny, Don, Judy, and Tom. He is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Linda; his children, Toni Sue, Melissa, Michael, and Kimberly; his grandchildren, Shawn, Anthony, Kaycee, Chloe, Madelyn, Dane, Aidan, Ian, Payton, and Lucca; his great grandchildren, Austin and Bella; his brother, Jerry (Dinah) Gallo; numerous nieces and nephews, as well as many loyal customer, employees, friends and countless members of the community whose lives were impacted by his kind and patient nature, his mentorship, and his determination.
