Arlene Buschert Obituary

Arlene Curry Buschert

Arlene Curry Buschert died peacefully January 17, 2021 at the age of 96. Born November 10, 1924, she grew up in North Portland, attended Kenton Grade School and graduated from Roosevelt High School. She married the love of her life, Elmer "Eddie" Buschert, in 1943 before he shipped off for WWII duty. They started their family in Portland after the war and moved to Salem in 1957. She worked for Meier&Frank in Salem teaching knitting during the 1960's. Arlene and Eddie were married for 72 years. Arlene enjoyed tracing her Oregon roots, including her lineage from Daniel Boone and first territorial governor of Oregon George Law Curry. She also traveled to many historical landmarks, retraced the Oregon Trail, and was a past president of the Sons and Daughters of Oregon Pioneers. Arlene was a member of Living Savior Lutheran Church in Tualatin. Arlene was an avid reader, historian, Christian, and loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother and will be missed by many. She is survived by Julia Doughty (Steve), Timothy (Sandy) and Matthew (Bev). She was "Een" to nine grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.

Interment will be at Willamette National Cemetery.

Dear Julie, Tim, Matt and the rest of the family,
I am so sorry for your loss, and sorry I didn't know about it sooner but just saw this today as for some reason I just did a search to look her up.
Your mom was so very special to me and I think about all the fun times we had together.
The best next door neighbor anyone could ever have.
I learned so much from her, we wall papered and made dolls and quilts and she taught me to crochet also... I already knew how to knit or she would have taught me that too...
We antiqued we and shared recipes and just shared more than I can say.
Both your mom and dad were always there for me to help with anything I needed.
She was a big part of my life and I would call her when I could usually around her birthday but last time I called she didn't seem to know who I was so I wasn't sure if she was having memory issues because she was usually so happy when i would call...
I really loved her lots, she was very special.
We moved from California to Texas about 2 years ago

Regards and my prayers are with you
