Donnale Harp Obituary

Donnale Harp

Salem - Donnale was born in July 1935 in Chino California. She moved to Oregon as a young child and resided in Noti, Oregon through High School. She attended Oregon College of Education where she met her husband Dale Harp. They resided in Silverton, Oregon and then Florence, Oregon before landing in Monmouth, Oregon where they raised their family of four children. Donnale loved to teach and taught in mostly one and two room schools. She loved to camp and to travel. After losing her husband in 1993 she spent some time in California near her children and grandchildren. She eventually moved back to Salem, Oregon where she passed away in March 2018. She leaves behind her children and their spouses, Brad Harp, Twila and Tom Sharp, Jill and Brad Craft and Stacy Harp. She was known to her great-grandchildren as Oma and was loved greatly. There will be a Celebration of Life at Salem First Christian Church on April 28 at 2:00 pm. In lieu of flowers please donate to your favorite Literacy program.

I will always remember Donnale for several reasons, but mostly because she inspired me to write a book after she wrote hers.
I have finished my third book. This one is about our six grandchildren. Blossoms Grown With Love. I wish she could read the book with flowers on the headings of chapters. Donnale was very special, and I miss her.

Life is a little garden made richer through the years
And constantly it changes as each new day appears.
So in this lovely garden, warmed by sunshine from above,
May you gather many blossoms grown with happiness and love. ( Author unknown)

Donnale grew many happy blossoms with love.

Donnale was always upbeat when we talked even when she was in pain. We were friends since 1956 when I met her at O.C.E. (now WOU). She inspired me to write about my family after I read her book.
Unfortunately, I will not be at the Celebration of Life, but my heart will be there. I feel very blessed to have called her my friend, and I will miss her very much.

I was Donnale's massage therapist and friend and will miss her spirit and spunk dearly. She was always, always, ALWAYS positive and kind in her words and actions. I will miss her wicked sense of humor and her attitude, her impish smile and how she unapologetically lived her life on her own terms. She cared about her family and friends and I loved listening to her talk about Travel and adventures she had. Her body was failing her but her mind was sharp as a tac, I'm sure she's somewhere running with the wind
