Elizabeth Stout Obituary

Elizabeth Emma Stout

May 12, 1922 - August 21, 2014

Elizabeth (Honey Beth) as she was called by dad was born in Weed, CA, May 12, 1922 to Daisy and James A. Stubblefield. She was the 4th of six children. Her parents moved around Oregon as her father did carpentry work and then helped in building many bridges. Beth went to grade school in Gervais, OR and graduated from Canby High School in 1941. She was introduced to Kenneth R. Stout, by his mother, Lucy Stout. Ken and Beth married in December 1943 and enjoyed 64 years together.

The were members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She sang with the ward choir and because of her amazing soprano voice, she sang solos, not only in church but for other programs as well. One of those times was in Albany High School as a junior, she had the lead part in an operetta called "Maritana". She held various positions for the Church over the years. She and Ken worked as missionaries for the LDS Employment Services, helping people find jobs. She loved to serve and help others and was always thankful in everything anyone did for her. She was a woman of many talents that included a passion for gardening; flowers or vegatable, sewing clothes, quilting, crocheting and painting with oils. Beth had a wonderful sense of humor and even in her final days she amused us all, including her care givers, with her quick wit. She is survived by 3 daughters, Linda Wiktorek (husband Adam), Salem, OR, Lora Albrecht (husband Donald), Eagle Moutain, Utah, and Lois Smart (husband Dave) Keizer, OR. She has 14 grandchildren and 38 great grandchildren. A celebration of Life will be held Wednesday the 27th at 10 am at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints at the 5th and Madison Street Chapel. Ken and Beth Stout were our next door neighbors on Hollyhock Place for 12 years before we moved to Verda Lane six years ago. They were dear people, friendly, kind and generous. We were the lucky recipients of Beth's garden every year that she was able. She was a gifted artist who freely shared her work but was very humbly received compliments. She was so appreciative of any small kindness from us. We could not have asked for better neighbors. Beth was a lovely and gifted woman. We are thankful for the loving care she received from her daughters. We will always fondly remember Ken and Beth. Our sympathy to their loved ones.
