Eric Porter Obituary

Eric T. Porter

April 5, 1970 - February 5, 2013

SALEM - Eric was born in Las Vegas, Nevada and moved to Salem Oregon in 2005. The family moved to Oregon for a better environment for the children.

Eric was a huge family man. The most important people to him were his children and his wife. Eric was a single father for many years and always put his family first. He was very well respected for being a family man.

Besides spending time with his family, he loved hunting, fishing, camping and all sorts of outdoor activities. During his life, Eric was also a football and baseball sensation as well as a race-car driver. He loved classic cars and spent a lot of time working on the families 1964 Chevy Nova.

Eric is survived by his wife Tina Porter; daughters: Amber Dawn Porter, Alysha Marie Porter and Sierra Blue Porter; grandson Trevor Eric Lee Collins; mother Audrey Porter; sisters Dawn Porter and Tiffany Collins; Jay and Cristin Ballenger and family. He is also survived by nieces, nephews and a great group of friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Donald Porter.

Flowers are welcome as well as donations in his name to the ALS Association of Oregon.

Services will be held at Virgil T. Golden Funeral Service on Sunday, February 17, 2013 at 1 pm.

It seems lately that our loved ones are leaving us way too soon. One thing is certain, Eric, in his short time on Earth lived and loved life to the fullest. He had an exuberance for life that extended to his family and friends, which in turn gives us all so many great memories to cherish. Much love to his wonderful wife, girls and family. He will continue to brighten your lives with his memory that lives in you.
Always remembering his smile...
With love

Eric was a funny, kind hearted person who always wore a smile! I hadn't seen him in many years but I know through others he lived his life honorably and loved his family passionately! He will be missed by all who ever were lucky enough to know him! My prayers go out to his daughters and wife, my friend Tina who found the love of her life in Eric! Tina, I hope you will find some comfort in knowing he is not suffering anymore! I'm sure he's sitting up in Heaven sharing stories with all his friends who met their maker before him! He is now the angel who will watch over you and your girls, and his new grandson! He will live on in the smiles of his daughters and the memories of all those who were lucky enough to share his life! My thoughts and prayers are with ALL his family in this time of loss! I will be having a jack coke in memory of Eric since I cannot make the ceremony! Cheers to you Mr Porter, may you rest in peace!

Eric was a man of few words but many actions. He loved practical jokes and loved seeing raw, real reactions from people around him when he would either scare the bejesus out of us or do something shocking just to get a rise out of us. He was an amazing father and loved his girls, wife, family and friends with his whole heart. He was true, transparent, loyal and comfortable in his own skin. He didn't make excuses for any mistakes he made and he lived his life on his terms. Eric made many friends whom he cherished and who cherished him. He earned the love and respect of those who knew him, not by any deeds he did, but simply because of the honest and real person he was. He brought an energy and zest for life to everthing he did. We love Eric as our brother and best friend. We will forever miss him and he will always be part of our life's story. RIP, my brother, my friend and don't worry or fret 'cause we got this down here. I raise my glass to you until we meet again, love your forever friends The Ballengers
